*yawn* Brady is 37, Manning is 38. The former missed an entire season with a torn ACL. The latter just came off his 3rd reconstructive neck surgery made the playoffs 2 straight years after said neck surgery and lit the entire NFL on fire last year. *sigh* but yes please do continue your gloom and doom prediction of our 34 year old qb being washed up and all that.

I forgot Romo is on par with what Manning and Brady has accomplished...

Wow, hyperbole much?

Romo became a starter late and has a few more good years left in him.

I agree. This isn't rocket science. he has plenty of tire on the treads (though I do think the franchise needs to be thinking about the future) and QBs play longer than most players.

P Manning will be 38 and 240 starts
Brady
will be 37 and has 191 starts

Roethlisberger is 32 and has 140 starts

Romo will be 34 and has only 108 starts (63-45)
Cutler will be 31 and has 104 starts
Ryan
will be 29 and 98 starts.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Not to mention he has had 2 back surgeries. He could be one big hit away from being done.

I am not worried about that. He can be one low hit from having a knee ruined.

I am more concerned about how he throws and even if his mechanics change because he is overcompensating for his back.

We have already seen a distinct difference in his playing style now. He will chuck and duck at times, it is getting more and more common.

All in all, I think we have seen the best from Tony Romo and the time to start preparing is right now, not when it is very clear he is on the down turn.

They are discussing coming back from injury and being able to play at a high level. People are assuming Romo can't play much longer how do you know? We seem to have a lot of wanna be doctors in the house that know exactly what Romo health status is. Number wise Romo has not slowed down at all, his accomplishments are not that of Manning and Brady but then that is not what is being discussed.
However considering the crowd claiming Romo is done is the same ones who have wanted Romo gone for the last few season. Shocking. LOL

LOL if you think Romo is on par or even close to a 3 time NFL MVP who has appeared in 3 Super Bowls and winning 1 with a MVP honor. Snap out of your slant and take off your blinders. I'm a Romo fan but I'm not ********.

Because QBs win super bowls all by themselves.

The general point is what rational reason is there to just assume he will? Isn't erroring on the side of caution a better move?

It is almost like people are afraid to even think about life after Romo, including our owner and head coach.

Man, how nice would that be if Romo plays 100+ starts with similar production, though I guess it depends on who you're asking lol.

Can't you see the reality of the situation? Is it your fandom and emotions that blind you to a 34 year old QB being at the tail end of his career? I would disagree with Garrett's opinion on any QB that is 34 years old. Romo has already lost his ability to throw deep and the two back operations will not be easy to overcome. 34 is not young in this league at any position. Sure there are exceptions, but there are some legit reasons to be concerned with Romo's age and injury history. Clinging to a QB that is in a state of decline can set this team back for years to come. There is nothing wrong with having hope that Romo can play at a decent level for a few more years. I had much rather be prepared to replace him and have an eye looking toward the future than see several years of clinging to a washed up QB with no replacement on the team. It doesn't matter if Romo is your favorite player. The reality is that he is an aging QB and his decline should not be ignored.

Romo has never had to throw deep. The offense doesn't have that as part of it's core plays. Aikman couldn't throw the deep ball either if you can remember that far back.

I don't think anyone is against planning for the future. I think the issue is the OP saying we're doomed for the next decade if we don't win this year.

I think Garrett was referring to Romo's decision making when he said he's a very young player.

I have no issue with Dallas looking at QB within the draft to groom a QB to replace Romo at some point heck I'm in favor of it. I did not mind seeing the Cowboys draft QB when Roger was here why would I mind seeing a QB drafted now? However there is no indication he has slowed down his yards per attempt are not down, his TD to int ratio is still very high. How much longer will Romo to able to play at a high level? I don't know but I also know that his critics sure as hell do not know, yet are the same ones who have been claiming we need to get rid of him for a while now

Are you seriously comparing 2 of the greatest QB's of all time to Tony "1 payoff win" Romo? lol.. shame on you.

Some people are smart enough to realize the football is a team sport and the QB can't win games by himself.

Well, if you look at our history with finding QBs under most of Jones' watch, can you reasonably feel a lot of hope?

If they are not gifted or he trips over them, we are getting Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson etc.

Some will never get it. Heck this last SB Wilson showed to be a very good QB but he never carried the seahawk, he was ranked 44th in pass attempts per game Seattle never put the game on his shoulders and said carry the team and win the SB. They put a damn good running game around him and a solid defense and won a SB because get this they were the best TEAM in the NFL not who had the best QB.
