I understand what he's saying from a wear and tear aspect. He hasn't taken the same hits a typical 34 year old QB would have if they'd been starting since day 1.

That said 34 is still 34. I love Romo as much as any Romo fan but 34 is 34.

Yes and who was it that shook Aikman's hand at mid field? Landry but then the team was sold. Dallas also took Walsh which hacked Aikman off and then many of the fans hollered for Aikman to be traded and keep walsh because in the 1-15 season the only win came under Walsh.

What does Walsh have to do with it? If anything, it makes your stance even weaker indicating that we took another QB.

Jones was still at the helm when he was taken so you did leave him out of it.

It's not a track record worth bemoaning if you include the long probowl careers of both Aikman and Romo.

But, yeah, franchise QBs are hard to find, and we've been really spoiled in Dallas.

Such an odd statement for a Cowboy fan to make ...

Also, as for the "broken down" comment, where is that coming from? You see 2 back surgeries(in reality it's 1), I see 31 TDs and 10 INTs. Just because he's had a recent injury at an older age doesn't mean he's "broken down". Hell, go tell Peyton Manning he's "broken down" as well, though he'll probably just laugh at you.

There are lots of odd statements from Cowboys fans around these parts. Very perplexing.
Constructive criticism and spirited debate is in high demand in a Romo thread.

If you actually watched closely last year vs just looking at the stats, you would know that for a good part of the year he was having trouble making throws down field. His mechanics were certainly off and he was playing skittish at times. Did you ever read Strums article? Also, his YPA were in fact down.

http://sturminator.blogspot.com/2014/01/tony-romos-back-may-explain-everything.html

Yes I watched he took what was there instead of being an idiot and focing passes and I would say the back problems did not just take place during the Washington game it just got to a point where he was not able to go without having a procedure done and now he has had it done and is on schedule even working out during the last camp. How long will he be able to play? That is anyone guess, I'm not going to say he will be playing for the next 5 or 6 years fact is I don't know and fact is nor do you.

I wouldn't bet a quarter that any QB drafted this year will be as good as Tony will be for the next few years if he is healthy. I think he will be better than last year and will be able to air the ball out like he used to do. That doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have a Manziel in here to push him - I would like that because it would be good for the Cowboys in the long run, if not the near term, at least not in this forum. ;)

QB drafted under Jones has been Aikman, Walsh, Musgrave, Carter and McGee. No spin, not twisting just the truth.

I have no issue at all with drafting a QB be it this draft of next not because I don't think Romo can return but because having a QB waiting in the wings to take over is better than being left without a viable option once Romo does hang them up

Since they put all their eggs in the Tony basket from all the spin coming from Jerry & Jason Tony better come out & have a killer year.

If he doesn't all the criticism he has heard in the past will seem like nothing.

This is a good draft for QB's. They need to go get one somewhere. Period.

I just wanted to go on record that I will be equally critical of everyone on the field and standing on the sidelines. It's football.

I also hope Jerry Jones stays in his luxury box.

Tony will do his best. I have more of a problem with Garrett and the front office, if this is really what they believe. I would have thought the back injuries would have been a wake-up call. Apparently not.

Do they look at any other 34-year-old quarterbacks in the league and think, that guy is very young? I'm guessing not. But they choose to delude themselves and look at their own guy that way.

and 2015 draft looks good for QB prospect. While I'm not opposed to getting a QB this is draft QB wise really not any better than next years crop of prospect

Agreed. This is a great year to grab one. We could easily grab a good one in the 2nd or possibly the 3rd round.

I think a high round offensive lineman pick will add a season or two to Romo's career. I hope that a better prospect at defensive line is not sacrified as a consequence, though.

I guess I'm not taking the statement the same. Rivers is 32 and taken a lot more hits than Romo for the simple fact he has been a starter longer. Romo is 34 what Dallas and Garrett are saying is yes in age he is 34 but because he became a starter later in his career he has not taken the same hits that guys who are younger have already taken. I don't think the Cowboys feel they are under pressure to take a QB, should a QB they like fall to them as some point in the draft I think they would take that QB but not out of fear over Romo age.
