Interesting...so he's going to wind up in St. Louis it looks like?

Does that mean this is why Dallas got rid of Stewart today? They know that Garrett is gone and Jerry is about to start really shuffling this coaching staff?

I'm interested to see how this all shakes out. It's been a very interesting offseason in the NFL thus far, well for those teams that are already in the offseason.

are these the same people that said frazier and spags were the front runners when schefter reported it was JG?

it's gonna be a long night and weekend waiting for this to play out

Well, someone being on a flight to St. Louis seems to offer a little more concrete evidence of who is a front runner than just chatter and speculation.

All you people happy about this, are you ready for a coaching staff of..

HC: Wade Phillips
OC: Ray Sherman
DC: Dave Campo
GM: Jerry Jones

I feel like throwing up..

That's about as deplorable a scenario as one could script.

I don't know. This seems strange that Garrett would go to St. Louis. Wade has only one year remaining on his contract and Garrett was supposed to be the head coach in waiting. Even if he has a semi-estranged relationship with TO, the latter won't be here much longer. They are both professionals and can deal with each other. Who knows? Maybe the offense will start clicking and they will work it out. Unless JJ has entirely soured on Garrett, I don't see why the latter would accept the Rams coaching job over the coaching job of the Cowboys, even if it won't happen for only a few years.

I think Stewart was fired because it's obvious that he didn't know what he was doing when Wade took over and significantly upgraded the defense, whereas it's only been Garrett's first year on his own (without Sparano), and the offense suffered from an atrocious offensive line that caused a lot of the problems (see how Romo was running for his life in both the 2nd Giants game and the Raven's game) until the very end when the offense finally made adjustments. I think there is room for Garrett to improve, but it was obvious that Stewart just plain sucked.

i agree. my response was to the hansen report of his contacts in STL denying JG was getting the job. he's since done a 180.

YES!!!!!!

I knew Jerry Jones would be reading this forum and my posts...
He asked me to question you as to why you'd put Garrett as a bigger problem than Stewart?

I don't think this scenario is likely at all. And it's not just because it's scary.

Spagnuolo wants personnel control and he won't get that in St. Louis with a GM in place.

The worst news in this might be Spagnuolo possibly staying with the Giants. I'd sure like to see him move on.

Maybe because the bloom is off the rose, and even JG realizes that one more year of backsliding minus Tony Sparano and he won't be getting these offers OR the job here... Princeton diploma notwithstanding.

Yep. It's now on NFL.com:

Cowboys assistant Garrett traveling to St. Louis
Posted: Adam Schefter | Adam Schefter | Tags: Jason Garrett, NFL coaching search, St. Louis Rams
Jason Garrett is traveling to St. Louis this afternoon, according to a league source, and it could be a sign that the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator is the Rams’ pick as their new head coach.
The Rams said Thursday that they wanted to have a head-coaching decision by Saturday. The team also spoke with Garrett on Friday and finalized the plans for him to come to St. Louis.
So despite the speculation that Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier or Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan could be the Rams’ next coach, every sign now points to Garrett.

So if you want TO to go, you should start saying now you love him and you want him to stay . . . . :laugh1:

Looks that way. Rams need a lot of work and are a mostly crap organization. So it is a challenge.

Me, I'm the Rams, I give Gruden a call to gauge his interest.

I'll say this. Jerry deserves this. We all know he wanted Garrett to be HC someday but he tried some cutsie crap with coach in waiting status and all that. Tried to have his cake and eat it too. Now he's not getting the guy who he wanted. Plus he convinced JG to pass on the Ravens gig - given the front office there, that would have been a far better situation
