Even if Garrett doesn't go to STL, the Tampa opening makes one more job to fill and probably increases the odds that he leaves.

I hope Garret doesnt go, but if he does we need to hire Shanahan.

I agree, Im not ready to give up on Garrett but if he does end up taking another head coaching gig I pray Jerry uses it as an excuse to end Gump's tenure over the team.

My biggest hope for Garrett over the last few days has been that he might be TO's ticket out of town.

A few weeks before that, I was fine with keeping TO as long as the right coaches could keep him in line.

Now, who knows what will happen next?

I just want Dallas to have the best coaching staff possible. I want the distractions minimized. I want football to be the story. However that happens is irrelevant to me.

Look for the Ray Sherman offense next year! Wait til he has to play bad cop to T.O. After being good cop on the sidelines to T.O.

I think because of how the season went offensively, I was angry and would've liked to have seen TO and Garrett gone. Over the last couple weeks, I think I've leaned more to TO leaving and Garrett staying. I'm bummed about this, but can quickly change if Shanny is brought in.

If Jerry does pull the trigger on Wade, I bet Shanny brings in Dennison to run the offense. That wouldn't be a bad trade off.

Personally, I would like Garrett to stay but if he does take the job in St. Louis, I'm concerned that all Jerry would do is move Ray Sherman to OC and I don't think Sherman would stand up to T.O. when Owens starts complaining about not getting the ball and it would just be a repeat of this past year. If Garrett does leave, it does leave Jerry with an out and he could fire Wade because with Garrett gone, there would be no continuity.

The only thing that I do not see happening is that Wade would stay as DC if Shanahan does get hired. I think Wade has too much pride to stay on.

My 2 cents

maybe i give cupcake too much credit but...

stay and have a chance to coach (DC) a superbowl contender OR get fired after blowing a home playoff game then tanking the season and taking a 44-6 beatdown on your LAST GIG.

hmmm...... i doubt wade is THAT gutless to pass on DC. but that assumes he's even wanted. his contract is the easy and obvious one to swallow.

So Garrett takes his 1 year at big boy pay and then leaves.

I'm not going to be heartbroken about it.

The offense was good before he arrived and I think it will be fine.

If he goes somewhere else and has success, so be it.

Like others, I hope this is the beginning of a Shanahan hiring.

Oh man. I may be sick.

Shannahan will be mental pepto.

I doubt very seriously we won't hire him soon if Jason leaves.

Wade is already an interim head coach for Jason. If Jason leaves that changes EVERYTHING imo.

NFL network just reported that JG is on his way back to St. Louis. The Rams announce they would like to make a coaching decision by Saturday.

ESPN Mosley Report:

Report: Garrett set to talk to Rams again
January 16, 2009 5:53 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Matt Mosley

Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is headed to St. Louis today for a second interview with the St. Louis Rams, according to NFL.com. All indications are that Garrett is now the No. 1 candidate for the Rams' head coaching vacancy.

I just spoke to a source at Valley Ranch who said that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will not try to talk Garrett out of taking the job. That means that Jones will likely be hiring another offensive coordinator.

But unless something goes wrong in the interview Friday, Garrett appears set to be named the Rams' new head coach Saturday. On Thursday, team officials said they wanted to make a decision by Saturday.

According to sources, Garrett will meet with former Rams president John Shaw, owner Chip Rosenbloom and new general manager Billy Devaney tonight. Much more to come on this.

I wonder if Jerry has had any conversations with Shanahan off the record about being our coach. if they are really close like they say im sure that Jerry has talked to him as a fall back plan or maybe his top plan...
