News: Garrett Wants Playoff Loss To “Fuel The Fire” For Team’s 2017 Motivation

First off. I would just like to say I'm not a coach and have never been one.

But even I can see that the game plan the Cowboys owner (yes, I believe he is involved in the process) and the coaching staff came up with to start the GB game was a disaster and damn near got the Cowboys blown out.

They went into the half and made some adjustments and things got better. But screwed it up in the end.

Somebody has to be held accountable for that. Don't they?

Otherwise its just going to happen again if we make the playoffs next season.

You simply can't keep doing the same things over and over with the same people and expect a different result.
I dont think jerry is involved in game planning, but it was a disaster, that and the sloppy substitutions.

Somebody has to be held accountable for that. Don't they?........no JG just says fuel the fire, we lost this one,
but thats ok we will get em next time!
and then he will say to just move forward, only 1 SB winner, and we fought hard to come back so great job.

Jason believes you just do what we do and execute and you will win, he lacks innovation and the game planning is most always bad.
Then in game coaches do poorly, so I dont see them ever moving deep into playoffs, some other well coached team will always beat
the jg coached team .
And marinelli and linehan are frustrating, as some of what they do is good, but at times in every game they can be so dumb!

Good post. Spot on. My only quibble is that I can envision a process where JG meets with Jerry and goes over the game plan.

They discuss it. And Jerry provides his feedback and has input into that plan.

I mean. I can't prove any of that. And I certainly do not know.

But it just seems to me to be the kind of owner and man he is; based on past behavior.

I would be surprised (not shocked, but surprised) if that is not going down on a fairly regular basis.

Not going to happen. And if it did happen, it would probably start off a circus with the press clamoring for more specifics and Jerry throwing in quotes of his own on top. It would hurt the team.

Fans want the guy in charge to publicly shoulder the blame. If he did, they'd turn immediately around and point to it as evidence he should be replaced. This isn't about the job he did coaching the team this year at all. It's about frustration that we lost.

Agreed it's not going to happen.

But what's possibly not going to happen is winning super bowl again.

Very frustrating when we blow opportunities.

Fuel the fire. How about adding to the defense and not make us look stupid again. Fire the defense and add to it

Where's the accountability for this subpar performances in the playoffs and actually his career as a whole?

He's made his share of mistakes, but I disagree that his teams have underperformed in his tenure as a whole.

I'd argue instead that fans aren't always realistic about how good their teams are or about how hard it is to get to the championship games at all.

Teams in the NFC with the longest championship game appearance droughts:

Commanders: 25 years

Lions: 25 years

Cowboys: 21 years

Every other team in the NFC has been to an NFCCG since the turn of the century with the exception of the above 3 teams.

We all know its hard. But...................damn.

I can see if the Clapper comes up with another stinker of a playoff game next year, Jerry will finally pull the trigger and send him packing. Enough is Enough already as there were way to many mistakes by this coaching staff when they are under pressure. These coaches can only manage a game when they are leading or way ahead. They suck at these points:

- No Clock Management concept at all.
- Not getting the team prepared to start a game
- Game Planning of Opponent at times is not there and we ending losing those games because adjustments are just to late.
- Stick with the plan, we are a run team on 2 or 3 and short run the damn ball. Stupidity going away from who we are against the Packers cost us that game.

What from that article makes you think he's not challenging himself or his staff to get better?
Has Garrett ever approached either coordinator during a game when their side of the ball isn't performing well? He's their boss isn't he?

I suppose to improve, he will head out to Duke with another session with college basketball guru Coach K

Are the defenses of GB or Atlanta better than ours? Both are playing this weekend. No team has it all. Garrett and Garrett's teams make enough bad plays in big games to lose.

Jimmy often said it's not how many great plays you make, it's how many bad plays you don't make. This team under Garrett simply makes too many bad plays in big moments. Hopefully Dak and Zeke can overcome that.
Jimmy's team were complete and deep. Garrett's team is not yet. Improvement is coming, I hope.

What happened in 2007 was suppose to fuel a big fire for the 08 season. Until we fix the defense whatever fire we have is going to get snuffed out in the playoffs.

Turned out is was a dumpster fire.

Did not reach goals, but did not take ownership of it. I've met this guy and my impression will not change with talk. He's got to show me.

This guy NEVER takes responsibility
Never says "it was MY fault" or "I will improve"

He always spreads the responsibility to "We"

Real leaders take ownership of problems because that is the first step to making real change

Garrett is a spineless jelly fish

You're wasting your time talking to Garret homies like Idgit

garrett does not have to challenge himself he will never have to worry about getting fired.

As long as it keeps working, I'm for it. Let's just finally fix the defense, too.

Whatever. As long as he keeps fielding competitive teams. If you want to think we're improving in the absence of coaching, that's ok.
