I heard Tony Romo say that and I disagree.
A good running team can run the ball whenever they want to, no matter if they are facing eight man fronts or run blitzes.
The Giants were sure as hell playing pass defense and yet it somehow didn't stop an ineffective Tony Romo from throwing the ball 29 times.
Is there not a situation that dictates running the ball?
Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice combined for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns against New York but were allotted only 27 carries.
Against Carolina, Jones and Choice combined for 176 yards and 1 touchdown on 26 carries.
Over the last two games, the backs have averaged 7.6 yards per carry.
So why on earth did Romo need more pass attempts in those games than the running backs had carries?
It's crazy to me to see that kind of production with the ground game and not give the group 30+ carries.
We all know Jason Garrett has no hesitation to go pass crazy if a defense keys on the run, why won't he do the opposite?
Please embrace the run.
