The flip side is this offense hadn't gotten in the red zone all game prior to that so what made you think they could do that on back to back drives? Further, the main point is that Garrett just admitted they basically eschew most, if not all, statistical analysis that shows probabilities of success/failure in that situation. In an NFL were data has become an advantage for some teams, Garrett just said we don't bother with it and basically go with his gut.
That's horrendous.
And as noted by some analysts, if you understand the data, the reality is that a coach worth his salt understands he has two plays to get seven yards starting on third down, so he can run the ball, for example, pick up 5 yards possibly, and put himself in a way more manageable 4th down situation.
