Garrett...you know what you should do...

For you yokels who had absolutely NOTHING to add to this post, at least my post had ideas behind them....holy cow, the first reply was an emoticon. One thing is for sure, the posting quality on this board has gone down. I've been here from the beginning of this site and was about the 30th member on the previous site.

The bigger a site gets, the more posters post one line replies whch add nothing.

One lne posts are fine during a game, but to have nothing to add to a thread when you CAN shows a decline in the IQ of posters.

Next time, try to add something constructive..... :bang2:

I have an astute suggestion concerning what Garrett should do: Don't listen to the fans on this board!

Best advice in the forum.

You need to RUN the ball....you need to run it successfully.

I hope you have been working with the o-line and your play-calling for this.

Felix is the one that could break this game open. Sorry, not impressed by a "hard two-yard run" by Marion "Bounce" Barber.

Last week, you had a couple of great drives going...they were over 7 minutes long and your "situational play-calling" deficiency showed up.....but they were great drives.

You need to keep their offense off the field.....the defense has showed time and time again that they can't stop a 3rd and long if the season depended upon it....and it does.

Wear down their small defense and you CAN pull away in the 4th qtr.....

The Saints have shown that they are vulnerable.....can you man up like some of the other teams have? The Skins should have beaten them if not for a kicker that couldn't kick a short FG with around two-minutes in the game. We beat that Skins team, even though they are playing tough recently.

It's way past time you quit calling plays according to what they defenses "give" us, and start coming out and putting THEM on thier heels....HIT THEM IN THE MOUTH!

Memo to Wade now.....

Get your act in gear....get out of there on 3rd and long....this can be a signature moment for you....this is a time of year where "your" defense should be clicking....running on all cylinders....yet you are allowing 3rd and long to be routine for opposing defenses.

It's way past time that you come up with something that confuses the opposition....

They need to run the ball successfully whenever they do run.I think that is a given. To me consistency in the running game is paramount.I see to many 10 yard runs followed up with a 2 yard loss on the next rush.

I'm fine with Barber starting the game, but I would like to see the other two backs get the bulk of the snaps in the 2nd/3rd quarters.

Last week Garrett was not the lone reason for them not punching the ball in.Garrett does make some mistakes but the players make just as many.On the 2nd and goal play Gurode was knocked on his butt at the snap,it's hard to blow defenders off the ball sitting on your can.

Winning the TOP battle will limit both teams scoring oppurtunities. But the defense is going to have to get off the field on 3rd down.Getting off the field with a 3rd down stop is going to be crucial in this game.

They can wear down a defense if they play decent ball.To really wear down a defense takes attitude, they haven't shown much attitude of late.

I don't kow if they can man up or not. That will fall on the players to come out and play with a sense of urgency, something that this group has rarely done.

It's hard to criticize all of the playcalls when we don't have all the neccessary information. It's hard to see all that goes on from the living room. There is more information being disected on the sideline than most realize.

I think what you've been seeing from Wade is what you are going to get.He may be able to pull a rabbit out of his hat but i'm not going to bet the farm on it.

About the only thing that one can hope for is that the coaches put the players in a position to succeed. If the coaches do that it will then fall on the players to make plays.

Here's the reality: When the Cowboys have run, run, run, they've failed to score points, points, points.

This is a passing league, and according to Jimmy Johnson, points come in the passing game.

To bad coach tecmo can't figure out when to mix it up consistently. You can't just do one OR the other, you gotta do BOTH....

run run play action pass
or
pass pass draw

Along with many other variations, these are the most basic...

It seems as if the Cowboys have two completely different and unrelated offenses: a passing offense and rushing offense. And they seldom compliment each other.

Brian Billick made a similar point earlier this week. He blamed this failure on the Cowboys offensive line, citing their inability to run block then pass block on consecutive plays. Essentially, they're either in a running mode or a passing mode.

Maybe conditioning is the real culprit. It seems like they do real well for a stretch and then they run out of gas....

Agreed...gotta do both...however, if the Saints can't stop our run, let's not get away from it like we have been all year. Think back to week 2 against the Giants....towards the end of the game, JG went pass, pass, pass....they couldn't stop the run.

An incomplete pass stops the clock.....how did we lose again? With NO TIME left on the clock.

I made that point a couple of weeks back. It's like they only practice run-blocking during practice or only pass-blocking depending on what thegame-plan is.....almost as if the linemen forgot how to do one or the other.

If only that wasn't completely untrue.

Really? That's funny....alot of us were wondering why he went to more passes at the wrong time in the 2nd half. with the lead and were yelling about it in the chat.

In the second half, Garret called 13 runs and 11 passes. In the 4th quarter he called 6 runs and 4 passes.

Yes, one could argue on the last interception was a poor call (it really wasn't) but the idea that the Cowboys were pass happy is just simply flat out wrong and ignores the facts.

The point was Situational Play-Calling. We were gaining ALOT of yards nearly every time we ran the ball...the o-line was clicking...yet we came out with our first possession n the 3rd qtr and FJ gets 24 yards and then he gets 2 yards and then pass, pass, punt.

A couple of possessions later pass for 7, run for 3...for a first down and then pass for an INT....just keep running....it was working. In the possession before this FJ had a run for 56 yards and MBIII had one for 10 and another for 15...run is working....they couldn't stop this.

First possession in the 4th qtr....Run, pass, pass, punt....got away from the run...which the Giants couldn't stop.

Those two possessions, not to mention the last possession in the 1st half where we had to settle for a FG due to poor play-calling made a difference.

Those two possessions in the second hald where we had to punt didn't tak much time on the clock and they beat us with virtually no time on the clock.

What do all coaches say? A play here, a play there makes all the difference...we see it every week. But when a team can't stop the run, you just need to keep hitting them with it until they make it a 3rd and long...and even then you can call a delayed draw and pick up a first down.

It wouldn't hurt to use Choice over Barber in that equation. Felix and Choice all day would be hard to stop...

Hindsight is always 20/20.It's easy to say after the fact of what should have been and compare it to what actually transpired. There's alot of things that happen on the sideline that we as fans don't see from the living room or for that matter see from the bleachers.

Some of the things that hurt this team are the fault of Garrett while others are well out of his control.

Jerry the Gm has done a poor job of trying to build offensive line depth for several years. It all starts up front,if you don't have consistent line play you will struggle with all facets of the offensive gameplan.

Wade the coach needs to preach a different message. He needs to have this team doing the small things, they simply don't understand how important attention to detail is.All those little things that they don't do manifest into a monster at the worst possible time.

Garrett is still learning the ins and outs of coordinating. He needs to learn to use his personnel a little better.Sometimes I wonder about a play call, but i'm sure most fans will do that regardless of who's calling the plays. He needs to get this offense to score more points, but the amount of yardage that they're racking up is encouraging.

The players need to make some plays. All to many times this season a player has had a chance to make a play only to fall short. The oppurtunities have been there, they have just managed to not take advantage of the oppurtunity. If the players can't take advantage of what is in front of them they need to look at bringing in some players that can.

I hate OJT...go learn somewhere else....this is the COWBOYS...we should be able to hire the best. Yes, this is a JJ downfall.

On the Job Training shouldn't be done at the NFL level in my opinion....that's where the lowly teams in the NFL and college teams come in to play. :)

Really. I mean let's take the highest profile football team in America and let's insert a novice.

Could you imagine if the Yankees pulled this crap in NY??? I realize it doesn't quite translate but I'm sure some serious baseball enthusiast's might get the point and could break it down. They should have made Garrett a qb coach here 1st for a few years. This is Jerry's baby.....
