You need to RUN the ball....you need to run it successfully.
I hope you have been working with the o-line and your play-calling for this.
Felix is the one that could break this game open. Sorry, not impressed by a "hard two-yard run" by Marion "Bounce" Barber.
Last week, you had a couple of great drives going...they were over 7 minutes long and your "situational play-calling" deficiency showed up.....but they were great drives.
You need to keep their offense off the field.....the defense has showed time and time again that they can't stop a 3rd and long if the season depended upon it....and it does.
Wear down their small defense and you CAN pull away in the 4th qtr.....
The Saints have shown that they are vulnerable.....can you man up like some of the other teams have? The Skins should have beaten them if not for a kicker that couldn't kick a short FG with around two-minutes in the game. We beat that Skins team, even though they are playing tough recently.
It's way past time you quit calling plays according to what they defenses "give" us, and start coming out and putting THEM on thier heels....HIT THEM IN THE MOUTH!
Memo to Wade now.....
Get your act in gear....get out of there on 3rd and long....this can be a signature moment for you....this is a time of year where "your" defense should be clicking....running on all cylinders....yet you are allowing 3rd and long to be routine for opposing defenses.
It's way past time that you come up with something that confuses the opposition....
They need to run the ball successfully whenever they do run.I think that is a given. To me consistency in the running game is paramount.I see to many 10 yard runs followed up with a 2 yard loss on the next rush.
I'm fine with Barber starting the game, but I would like to see the other two backs get the bulk of the snaps in the 2nd/3rd quarters.
Last week Garrett was not the lone reason for them not punching the ball in.Garrett does make some mistakes but the players make just as many.On the 2nd and goal play Gurode was knocked on his butt at the snap,it's hard to blow defenders off the ball sitting on your can.
Winning the TOP battle will limit both teams scoring oppurtunities. But the defense is going to have to get off the field on 3rd down.Getting off the field with a 3rd down stop is going to be crucial in this game.
They can wear down a defense if they play decent ball.To really wear down a defense takes attitude, they haven't shown much attitude of late.
I don't kow if they can man up or not. That will fall on the players to come out and play with a sense of urgency, something that this group has rarely done.
It's hard to criticize all of the playcalls when we don't have all the neccessary information. It's hard to see all that goes on from the living room. There is more information being disected on the sideline than most realize.
I think what you've been seeing from Wade is what you are going to get.He may be able to pull a rabbit out of his hat but i'm not going to bet the farm on it.
About the only thing that one can hope for is that the coaches put the players in a position to succeed. If the coaches do that it will then fall on the players to make plays.
