I'd name him chief bottle washer. Gibbs would be great, what's wrong with you?

I prefer to have a winning team

I think this is just a favor to BP. I have a feeling he is not in real consideration for the job.
A favor to BP??? Parcells kept Gibbs from Campo's staff, BP didn't hire the guy.

I google nothing, all from memory. Nice try.

I am sure you did, which is why earlier when OU ties were mentioned you said he was a former DC there but left out the head coach part :)

Some of you had better start paying a bit more attention to this guy. He could well end up being the HC. A former head coach at OU, impressive guy, great credentials, defensive side of the ball, former Cowboy position coach, Jones is "familiar" with him. Don't be surprised if he's the guy. I think he'd be a great choice, far better than Norval or Wade.

I question how much of a role he played in the Saints' success. But I'm not excited about those other two guys either.

What? Where was that? If true, a mere oversight on my part. he followed Switz during some very difficult years and did a good job. Please don't question my football knowledge in the future.

The Prophet is hearing some very favorable reports around the Metroplex area about one Gary Gibbs. 4 year asst with the Cowboys, and most importantly he is someone JJ is comfortable with (just like Jason Garrett). Gibbs would run the D, Garrett would run the O.
Anyone else heard this name floated about by credible sources?
Thoughts?

Looks to me like he did one outstanding job with their D.

Please no more "homer driven" Gary Gibbs threads. Wasnt the Gibbs bandwagon enough to get your opinion out there. We understand you dont mind a college coach and prefer one from OU be it Stoops or now Gibbs.

Not my position at all, my friend. I honestly think he'd be a fine choice. I posted again on the topic after reading more info. this morning on the net. Gibbs left OU many years ago, that's an old connection. Gibbs was on Campo's staff and kept on by BP. He's a good coach and an impressive guy. he's been in the pros now for going on 6 years. The Cowboy's obviously think enough of him to bring him in for an interview, I wouldn't scoff at the prospect of him as the next head coach. Yes, I like to discuss candidates I think are good and can lead to success, sorry you have a problem with that. Maybe he's not flashy, but BP was and he failed miserably. Just keep an eye on this guy.

"Homer driven". Please. Look, I just want a solid qualified coach who'll be around a while. I don't see Wade Phillips or Norv being that guy. Sure, I like Gibbs, I'm happy they're considering him, that's all. I have no agenda, do you?

Geez...wouldn't want to hire someone Jerruh isn't comfortable with, ie...can control.

I'd say he got mixed results. Their offense helped the defense a lot, by keeping the opponent off the field, and putting them into a catch-up situation a lot of the time. Their pass rush improved, but their run D was much worse than the year before Gibbs got there. If it weren't for their offense building leads, their run D would have been exposed, as it was in the championship game.

The Saints allowed 4.3 yards per rush in 2005, and 4.9 in 2006.

As a Sooner fan who remembers the awful job Gibbs did in succeeding the Bootleggers Boy, count me out.

C'mon guy, Gibbs had winning records each year. He was in a difficult position after Switz was forced out. Surely you would have to remember & admit that. That was not an easy position to be in. I suppose you preferred John Blake and Howard Scnellenberger. LOL. Gibbs himself is a talented coach.

just a midwesterner' p.ov., but they do.... garry gibbs?!?!:lmao: :laugh2:

farkin' okies! :p:
