Some of you had better start paying a bit more attention to this guy. He could well end up being the HC. A former head coach at OU,

Oh, my GAWD...

Yeah, he was their head coach... one of six the Sooners have had in the last 40 years, and he has the 4th best record of those six, behind Switzer, Stoops and Fairbanks...

IOW, he wasn't particularly GOOD when he was the head coach up in Norman... which may be why nobody else has seen fit to employ him as a head coach in the 13 year since he left...

impressive guy, great credentials,

No, he doesn't... unless your definition of "great credentials" is having once worked for the Oklahoma Sooners... clearly, that's YOUR definition, but the rest of the world is unlikely to agree with you on that one...

You'd probably cream your jeans if you learned that John Blake was under consideration for the head coaching job... :lmao2:

LOL. Nice fact spinning, brother. No one could have done better at OU at that time, his replacements did much worse, until Stoops. Coaches move around all the time. Seems his move to the Saints was onward and upward, isn't that the usual plan? You strike me as a Sooner hater. Try to look beyond your hate.

Try too look beyond your homerism......it works both ways

Blake? LOL. He's god awful. He's with Butch Davis now at North Carolina. I wouldn't hire him to shine shoes. My opinions are based in fact and reality, not bias and hate. What do you have against Oklahoma?:lmao2:

I question how much of a role he played in the Saints' success.

Anybody who looks at the facts understands the Saints' success was not built on their defense... they ranked 11th in total defense this past season, which is downright mediocre... their pass defense was pretty fair, 3rd in the league, but their run defense was actually rather bad, ranking 23rd in the league... their scoring defense wasn't much to write home about either, ranking 13th, giving up a hair over 20 points a game...

And even that pretty fair pass defense had its problems, as they ranked 30th in TD passes allowed, with 26, and 29th in interceptions, with just 11... they were a bit better, but still only mediocre, in the sacks category, notching 38, to rank them 13th in the league...

Any of that impress you??

If memory serves they were just as bad vs the big plays, if not worse, than dallas was so I really see no reason to bring him back.

What? Where was that? If true, a mere oversight on my part. he followed Switz during some very difficult years and did a good job. Please don't question my football knowledge in the future.

What football knowledge??

The way you're puffing up Gibbs as the second coming is all the proof any truly knowledgeable football fan needs to know that IF you have any football knowledge, it's frequently overruled by your rather comical Sooners bias...

Gary Gibbs does not have the resume to be a head coach in the NFL...

Period...

Looks to me like he did one outstanding job with their D.

More proof you're not paying attention... I have posted the Saints' defensive stats earlier in this thread, read what I posted and tell me what constitutes "outstanding" in those numbers...

The very best defensive stats the Saints put up were mediocre at best... in no major defensive category were they in the top 10 in the NFL...

I'm no homer, ace. What's your agenda?

I have no agenda I just don't think Gibbs is a good choice. he has done nothing to prove he's HC material IMO.

You have your opinion and I have mine. We'll have to agree to disagree.

"Homer driven". Please. Look, I just want a solid qualified coach who'll be around a while.

Clearly you don't, if you're serious about Gibbs...

At least Stoops has a college resume to justify your opinion of him, my only argument with you there was that Jerry was real clear that he wasn't about to consider a college coach with no NFL experience...

But Gibbs, well, it's RIDICULOUS to argue that he has the resume to be a serious contender for a head job in the NFL...

In fact, of all the thousand or so names I've seen bandied about over these last few days (a bit of rhetorical excess there, I know), Gibbs is by far the worst I've seen...

Your argument seems rather fragile my friend. The bottom line is that the Saints D was good enough to take a team that went from 3-13 to one that just missed playing in the SB. That doesn't happen by having a mediocre DC. The Saints D bent but did not break all season long. Need to look further than stat sheets to have a clear understaning of the game.

Gibbs did a good job.

No matter how often you repeat that lunacy, it's still bovine fecal matter...

If you don't recognize that, then you really don't have any football knowledge...

You heard right, bro. Objective and realistic. No brag, just fact.

You want a guy who did not make a great defense while at Dallas, did not have a great Defense with New Orleans as head coach...yet you don't want a guy that has had very good defenses everywhere he has been in Phillips.

One would imagine that if you don't like Phillips...fine, but to then turn around and want someone who is not as good as phillips on the defensive side of the ball...must be homeristic...or silly.

The Gibbs bandwagon seems to be gaining momentum. We''ll see.

Yeah, so far "the bandwagon" seems to consist of you and The Prophet...

Well, so far I see no reason to take you seriously, and the Bear never, ever takes anybody who refers to himself in the third person seriously...

So, it looks like your bandwagon is made up mostly of profoundly delusional individuals...
