I do wonder about his market vs Winston and Newton who are each looking for some big money as well. Dak has a top 5 career passer rating while each of them are 10 points less and rank similarly to Culpepper, Garcia, and Dalton. I don't think either is a bad QB, but won't see the money Dak would get on the open market. I would guess several teams would fall somewhere between 25 and 35 million for Dak. I base this on what Cousins got and has had similar production during his career.
Really you went with Winston and Newton. Winston coming off a 30 int season. I think Dak has thrown maybe 30 total in 4 full seasons. Newton coming off injury and poor production over the last couple seasons. There is only 1 thing Winston, Newton and Dak have in common. Do better

Cousins and his Agent are very astute negotiators. Wait until you see what mediocre QBs get after Mahomes signs.
exactly....that's why signing Dak today for 35 would not be as bad. once Mahomes hits 45-50, then 40 seems like a bargain....

All it takes in one. Anyone really think there’s not one team that would pay Dak $30M/year?
Oh, for sure. I just don't think there would be a lot of bidders if the starting price is already determined.

I dislike lazy argument techniques used by most of y'all. Is there proof the person you're posting too has said these things regarding the players you've mentioned? If not your post has no legs sir.
yes, there are plenty who argue those points I had in my post...exactly as I said it.

Ok please show me exactly where I said Zeke is not good and Amari is not a top 15 guy. Yes Chad Ochocinco and Houshmandzadeh were good but as a total offense they didn't have near as much talent.

You can put all the words in my mouth you want and that won't change.
maybe not you directly, but all you all dak detractors...who now all of a sudden stopped complaining about Garrett, and not even mention him as probably one of the reasons this team was medicore and the one ammo all you all point to is that he was 8-8 in 2019....everything else be damned.

At some point you have to stop losing every big contract negotiation and take a stand or you won't have a team. They've already offered Dak so much money, that Dak is the winner if he just signs. 33/35 minion is elite QB money and he is not an elite QB. Dak certainly does not deserve to be the highest paid QB in the league, but apparently he and his agent thinks he should be setting the new record. And just because other teams (the Rams again) paid stupid money, doesn't mean Dallas should follow suit.
who says giving a 35 mill contract to Dak is losing.....that's the market....Cousins, got 66 over two years...that's 33/year.....Cousins for Gawd's sake.....and mahomes is going to end up in the 45-50 range and will make 35 look ike chump change.....

and in two years 33-35 is not elite money any more....Rodgers started at elite money and now, he is not....the price of QBs keeps going up and if Wentz deserve 30...then Dak deserver 35.....

Let Dak Prescott win any game (much less a playoff game) throwing for under 100 yards while Zeke goes on a historical run...and this exact same group of idiotic anti-Dak haters would literally march on Arlington to get Dak replaced.

But suddenly, a guy who threw for 369 yards TOTAL in 3 NFL playoff games "took his team to the AFC Championship!"

Morons.
I know, these guys will change argument on a dime for the sake of winning arguments.....one of them even pointed to Dak's QB play in the 3rd quarter of the jets game as proof that he is not elite.....I never laughed so hard.

What does any of this nonsense have to do with my specific points? The OP said that Dak Prescott wouldn't even be in a position to get a contract if Romo was healthy in 2016. Which is not true. Dak Prescott would not be in a position to get this contract if Romo wasn't injured AND if Dak Prescott didn't take advantage of it by playing well.

Remember when Cam Newton went down last year for Carolina? Why isn't Kyle Allen in a position to get a new contract based on the fact that Newton went down? Oh, that right, because UNLIKE Dak, Allen didn't play well.

That is the point.
my point is Dak played well but not better than romo if he was not injured. Some rookies or back up QBs earn the starting job after showing up in preseason or during camp . Dak is not in that territory .

Well random forum predictions aside, as of right now, the Commanders would not be giving Prescott $30 million when they have a first round talent they will try to develop.
fully agree. i don\t think they value dak at 30 mil .

And if Dak appeared in a Super Bowl he would have had his contract by now. Instead, a supposed ELITE QB is arguing over length. The two dopes in the front office must not be as sold on Dak as they pretend to be.
are those the same two dopes that pulled off this off season overhaul?

Wentz did not deserve 30, so you're saying Dak doesn't deserve 35?

BB is not giving Dak $30 million
Colts had multiple QBs they could have snagged, they went cheap with Rivers
Broncos? Uh, they are all in on Lock and have said this
Commanders? Rivera loves Haskins

Jags are the only team that I can think of that MIGHT do it. And frankly, they're a stupid organization so I don't think we should be compared to them.

Agree to disagree, on all of those fronts. Dak’s a big, young, reliable upgrade for all of those teams.

read the 103,923 posts on Dak…. come on dude...seriously, you want to tell me no one has said any of those.....
Who said no one said any of those? I asked what person in here was a double talker like you mentioned which is not the same thing as the question you just asked.

Dalton’s playoff results
Dude, what are you smoking?

None of those teams would pay him 30. The Pats? Not a chance in hell.. They didn’t even want to outbid us for Dalton. Washington and NY just drafted QBs, so I see no basis there. Carolina, maybe, but they won’t deal w Scam Newton, so I don’t see it happening.

Dak is being too greedy, plain and simple... If he performs at an elite level and wins as a Cowboy, he’ll always have handsome financial income predicated on his celebrity and association with the Dallas Cowboys for perpetuity.

if somebody had to bend backwards over 3 or 4 million, it should be Dak... He’s lucky as hell to even be the Dallas Cowboy’ starting QB...

To me, without the real inside info, Dak comes off as a me-frst, overly-greedy, outsider... He needs to put in his dues now. Just accept one of the the various handsome deals he’s been offered, then go out and handle your business.

The reason I really resent Dak regarding the money is because he’s the team leader... He isn’t acting like a team player at all, and it’s not hard to see...
Those two rookies looked impressive indeed.

They both have rookie contracts so they are cheap. You could keep them on the bench for a few years, evaluate everything then either cut Dak or trade your young guy.

In either case, you would also deprive the Cowboys. Don't think that it wouldn't be a consideration.
