a little nugget about Memphis.....everyone is focusing on the return of Randolph from injury.....but nobody is paying any mind to the pickup of Arenas, well outside of Memphis anyway.

This was a shrewd move, and even though it has gone under the radar, it is one that has helped solidify their bench. All he has done is come in and give solid minutes to that 2nd unit.

They were already a tough draw when healthy, he makes them even moreso.....

I think we'd beat them, but man it will be an incredibly difficult series like the Thunder series a couple of years ago.

ya, i dont think they would beat any of the top 4 teams (well, maybe the clippers) but its pretty much a death sentence for the second round

Well tough 1st rounds aren't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it helps because it gives you that challenge you need to go on a championship run. See 2010 Lakers and 2011 Mavs. Sometimes having it too easy will come back to bite you like it did for the 2009 Cavs and 2010 Magic.

youre probably right, but for personal experience, with my team, its always been that way. easy first round is good, hard first round (like in 06 vs the kings) spells doom in the second round

What a great game in Miami tonight. That was awesome. Maybe the best game of the year.

And hey EnR, I never made that Thunder thread because I knew it would get derailed anyway. Plus I admit to a tad of superstition... They've been doing fine without one. :)
Ha! No worries, I figured this would be the best of both worlds. We can freely talk about our Thunder without it getting derailed... or causing them to superstitiously lose. Hmmm, then again... When did I make this thread and when did they start that 3 game losing streak? Eek!

Idk if I should root for Memphis or the Paperclips tonight. If the Paperclips win they gain ground on us, but if Memphis wins they will continue to stay in that 5th spot. Best case scenario would be for the Paperclips to get the 3rd seed, for Memphis to fall to 6th and they would have to meet in the 1st round. Lakers fall to the 4th seed and face the Mavs in the 1st round. I really would like to avoid Memphis they scare the hell out of me.

Glad to see Knicks are still holding on to a playoff spot. Don't expect them to do much else once they get in though.

I hope you're right about MVP. Right now, I'd say that LeBron has a slight advantage over KD. But I'm hoping that this last stretch of games tips it in KD's favor. The Heat have a couple of marquee games against the Celtics and Bulls this week. If the Heat lose those, I think it's KD's award. And if they win, LeBron probably wins it.

And I agree with you on the final 4 teams (although I go back and forth with putting Memphis in there instead of San Antonio). I have Chicago and OKC in the Finals. With OKC winning. :D

I just can't give the MVP to a guy who consistently shrinks in the clutch and is playing with two super stars. I maybe a little biased because KD is my favorite non Laker, but I really feel he's been the #1 player in the NBA this season. A lot of people laughed at Skip Bayless when he said Durant would be the one to take the throne away from Kobe instead of LeBron. I don't think those same people are laughing anymore.

How about the Celtics? Those ****ers just don't die. I was hoping we finally ended their run in 2010, but as I said they just don't die. They're a legit threat to win the East and the championship. I know the odds are slim at best Especially with the clown in my sig coaching my Lakers but how great would a Celtics/Lakers Finals be? Just one more time please.

NO!!! no more lakers/celtics!

but on a related note, i think the team that draws the celtics between the heat and bulls in the second round will basically be kissing their chances at the finals goodbye. it doesnt matter who wins that series, either the celtics or the heat/bulls will be so worn out from that slugfest that the other team in the conference finals (bulls/heat) will just finish them off! thats why i hope its the celtics/heat

I don't buy that at all. Boston was supposed to be worn out by facing LeBron and the Cavs in round 2 in 2008 and 2010. They destroyed Orlando in 2010 and won a tough series against Detroit in 2008.
