McGee Cassell and Weeden were terrible but Orton and Kitna were fine. It's not like the front office has brought in superior talent and they failed with it. The backups that we had in at the skill positions last year weren't doing them a lot of favors winning routes and getting separation even if they were afraid to throw in the middle of the field if it wasn't the first read.
well i think there were a number of times where we had better talent than certain opponents and yes the litany of backup QBs were sent out there weren't great (some not even good) but it never seemed like we put them in a position to win based on gameplanning, game-management, and/or in-game adjustments. Always seems like we just sent out the next chump and expect him to play as well as Romo. Cassell and Weeden weren't good true, but they have both won games elsewhere since, hence my problem. I don't expect the backup QB to be as good as Romo, but I expect the team and the coaches to rally around him and craft a plan that plays to what he is capable of, however limited that may be. Clearly, the post-Cowboy staffs that got Cassell and Weeden did that and actually salvaged a win or two despite their limited abilities....and I just don't buy that our team wasn't more talented (top to bottom) than those teams Cassell and Weeden won with later.
