He has actually no choice but to give Murray some carries and he goes nutz for 253 yards. And guess who starts the next game after Murray breaks the cowboys single game rushing record? ummm............that would be Tashard choice again. LOL Yah, Garrett really elevated him. It wasnt until another great week did Garrett finally give in due the fact that he would have been absolutely hung by the fan base if he hadnt.

Garrett has done some good things, but keeping Murray on the bench and almost single handidly killing our season last year by inserting two undrafted or 7th round rookies along the line was not one of them.

Garret elevated Murray when he elevated Murray. In other words, he signed off on drafting the guy, developed him despite his injury and the shortened camp, and then elevated him to starter when Murray demonstrated that he deserved the job. That's incontrovertible. You can try to make the case that the opposite happened, but it's silly and not worth debating.

Not sure if this was meant to be a joke or is just an example of how thoroughly you're agenda is affecting your ability to reason, but, either way, it borders on 'sad.' Costa was not demoted to third string.

The Cowboys welcomed guard Mackenzy Bernadeau to practice for the first time since in training camp and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the team’s ravaged offensive line.
Bernadeau has been out since May because of hip surgery. He began training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
“It felt good to be with my teammates, get some plays down,” Bernadeau said. “They’re monitoring everything I do, so there are no setbacks. Right now, I’m focusing on playing guard … and getting healthy.”
Bernadeau, who played in Carolina the last four years, signed a four-year, $11 million contract to help solidify to the guard spot. But the Cowboys had also hoped to give him a try a center in training camp.
He did only individual drills in practices yesterday and will be initially worked in at guard but his move to center is inevitable because of the injuries and the need for a capable performer.
Bill Nagy (ankle) and Kevin Kowalski (ankle) were supposed to compete with Phil Nagy for the starting center role but they will start the season on the injured list and may not be available for six weeks.
David Arkin and Harland Gunn have filled in being Costa and have had trouble getting the snap to the quarterback.
Vice-president Stephen Jones shot down any talk of the Cowboys adding a center to the roster because he said Bernadeau will start taking snaps at the position.

“At some point, we’ll put the ball in Bernardeau’s hands. He’s done it before. It’s not totally foreign to him,” Jones said.

Just because I think your take on this issue is really, really bad, it doesn't make Costa 'my boy.' Especially when I'm on record to the contrary in this same thread. I'm not sure what point this quote was supposed to make, though, other than to confirm what everybody already knows: that we signed Bernardeau to play OG and to compete and backup at OC. That's just smart.

What would not be smart would be to sign a player who's a street free agent, who was not deemed worthy of trying to retain in the offseason, whom no other team in the league was willing to sign on to their expanded 90-man roster, who missed all of OTAs, the beginning of training came, and all of the instruction to-date from our new OL coach, and to elevate him ahead of all of the players we kept in his place in order to make him a starter to fill the hole you created in the middle of training camp by replacing our other starter with another career backup who would also be playing out of position.

Costa was NOT demoted to 3rd string.

Stephen Jones said that they are not looking for help at Center.

It just means that they don't have a backup Center. Nagy and Kowalski are out. Arkin and Gunn don't have experience at Center.
 
Our most glaring issue is Center!!!! With free agents out there, why aren't we addressing this???? It's frustrating to understand!:confused:
 
We're not addressing anything right now.


I think the team is going to be patient, see what these guys do early in the preseason, and take advantage of other teams cuts.

So, what are the Cowboys supposed to do about it now? You usually can't just acquire a Pro Bowl center out of nowhere.

Doesn't need to be a probowl center, someone who can do something as simple as snap the ball would be an upgrade

Yep.

What's really funny though is we clamor for and pray we can get guys in the secondary who can play the ball. That's advanced stuff!

The OL on the other hand. Well, we got that one guy from Carolina and Center isn't completely foreign to him. It's like if you can squat over a ball and push it between your legs you can make the team!

That's like saying we're going to bring in some CBs from other teams because they know how to run after the opposing team WR. No need to do anything else, just run after him!

People are probably going to keep posting about the center position though because without opening this thread there is no way to know it's about center.
