That is my feeling towards the mindset that it is in any way acceptable to have Phil Costa snapping the ball to Tony Romo. Costa is to the center position what Tyler Perry is to comedy, a waste of space who is atrocious at his chosen craft yet for some unknown reason is beloved and defended by large groups of people.

We have championship aspirations and yet our front office and coaching staff are still considering starting Costa at center? Costa has no right to even be on the team much less starting, and continuing to risk the health of a great player like Romo over this stiff is appalling amost beyond comprehension.

Whether it be Bernadeau, Arkin, ANYBODY ELSE...this staff has to find a way to find someone better. It is a necessity. No longer should Romo be forced to jump up and catch his horrible snaps, no longer should he have to scramble the moment he gets the ball because a defensive tackle tossed Costa aside like a fifth grader and no longer should our backs be forced to bounce it outside because t-rex arms couldn't hold a block for longer than half a second.

Maybe you should write a letter to Coach Callahan and Coach Garrett expressing your concerns...

hope so, but it doesn't change anything. The front office is a clown show and Jerrah is BOZO.....Tony is going to get HURT this year and won't even sniff the 8th game, let alone the 16th. JJ sucks balls and is clueless....same old, same old.

Pulling off some kind of trade or FA stop gap would be a huge step in the right direction. A little cap leveraging would be entirely justifiable given the fact that Romo is 32 and only has a few years left in this league.

Bad snaps have been a problem long before Costa took over.

Yes, but Gurode was a pro-bowl blocker for several years here. Costa was used as a projectile.

Couldn't agree with you more, 30 Yard.

I'm concerned for Tony's safety.

Now that I think about it, Romo needs to be doing track every off season. This golf stuff is not going to help all that much for his scrambling and running away abilities.

Phil Costa is not just bad, he's very bad.

Hell, line up Dockery at Center.

Understatement. Kyle Kosier was "very bad" last year. Terence Newman was "very bad" the second half of the year. Alan Ball is "very bad".

Calling Phil Costa "very bad" is an insult to those guys. He is unfathomably awful to the point where I'm unsure I've ever seen a player in the NFL less deserving of where they are.

This is stupid. Go back and watch the second have of last year. He was a pretty good center. This is a litmus test like Romo is a litmus test. People that think Costa can't play center are just pointing out that they don't know what the hell they're talking about.

It shouldn't take an entire year and teetering on the brink of a .500 season for the pocket not to immediately become a "W" upon snap of the ball.

Over the first 8 games, Costa was the 32nd best starting center in football. Over the last 8, he was the 25th best center in football. You and I have different definitions of "pretty good". I wouldn't call being one of the 8 worst center in football on your best day "pretty good" but then again, I also thought Alan Ball was pretty pitiful back when it was cool to say that he improved late in the season. So what do I know?

this thread is stupid, Tyler Perry is plenty funny.

Your post is so dumb I can't even reconcile that I'm responding to it right now. Seriously, just shut up and go talk about something about which you have an ounce of knowledge, though I can't fathom what that might be.

Ignore list ... again.

A large portion of your posts on this site are dedicated to calling others idiots after being presented with the facts of the matter. If you're this angry about it take it up with those who keep track of o-line performance, not me. You act as if there is some measurable way to defend Costa and then fail to provide it.

Pretty sure you were in the "Alan Ball has a future with the Cowboys" crowd though, so this is hardly surprising. You have a history of supporting players until they fall off the wagon and then acting as if you knew all along. This time next year you'll be the biggest expert on the failures of Phil Costa no doubt.

Didn't Jay Ratliff tell the Cowboy coaches and front office that Costa had something as a center? He has gone up against him in practice.

But, hey, if it makes you feel better to rip on a guy who went from undrafted FA to starting center practicing hard and giving 100% effort...

How about at least giving the guy a chance and see what he does in the preseason games before hyperventilating?

Because the 2011 regular season was an unmitigated disaster as far as center goes. After a season like his, rookie or not, only a fool would take anything other than a "show me" stance. Giving him the benefit of the doubt is in no way justified. Until proven otherwise, everything about his game says failure.

I can't say I'm outraged, but I feel your pain. Costa has the potential to be Alan Ball 2.0.
