Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn II

Predictions?

I'm really torn here. I like both fighters, so I wouldn't be upset if either of them wins. I'm picking GSP by decision or 4th/5th TKO.

To get everyone prepped for the fight here are a couple of links to the UFC Primetime show featuring Penn and Pierre. It's similar to HBO's 24/7 series whenever they have a major boxing fight, and it just chronicles both fighters up until the bout. There are three separate episodes. They've aired two. I believe the third and final one will be shown tomorrow night on Spike.

I really feel Penn is the superior fighter, but that he is a much better lightweight than welter. Penn is not big enough or strong enough to stop GSP from laying on top of him for 5 rounds. I pick GSP by decision.

Penn is dominant at 155 but there is no way he can handle GSP at this weight. GSP is just too strong right now physically for him.

GSP's strength advantage means he wins the battle for ground control and I just don't think Penn at this weight can knock GSP out.

GSP by ground and pound TKO in the 3rd.

Both are top 5 in the worl imo and it should be a great fight. I think BJ wins though.


I hope Machida loses too. Can't wait to watch this PPV.

I will bet any amount of money you wish on this. Whatever amount you are willing to lose is fine with me.

GSP may win, but it won't be by submission, that's for sure.

Rooting for Penn, but I'm taking the easy choice and saying GSP taking a unanimous decision.

I've watched the pre fight stuff on Spike. Penn acts like a jerk and there is no way I could root for him.

I can't wait to watch the fight tonight.

Im rooting for Penn to win. I think he is a more skilled fighter and when in shape he is one of the top 3 in the world.

GSP is the man too. I got a feeling he will try to get take downs and just lay on BJ the entire fight.

The only way GSP will submit BJ is if he chokes him because BJ is like Gumby.

Easily my pick for FotN and could be one of those FotY candidates if it goes like it should.

I'm afraid GSP may take BJ down and just control from the top for quite a while which is why I don't think it will live up to the insane hype.

But I love Clay and his relentless pace. No one even compares to Clay's pace, IMO. It's a joy to watch him fight and I wish some fighters would at least take a little bit from his playbook.

The good thing about the GSP / BJ fight is it is 5 rounds.

We know GSP is going to try and lay on him the entire fight. BJ is a smart fighter and will prepare for this.

It should be a heck of a fight and the good thing about BJ is he is one of the best at getting back on his feet if taken down.

He is a heck of a figher but his style is boring to me. I give props to anyone who can fight as patiently as he does but it just isn't that entertaining to me.

I hope Silva beats him.
