actually it was a dozen or so, maybe 15...and Owens was wide open on several plays where McNabb just flat out missed him...Owens also had Hall beat easily on the interception, but McNabb grossly underthrew the ball

No, actually it was closer to 20 than a dozen. I stopped counting after 16 or 17, and I believe there was at least one more ball thrown his way.

And while Hall's pic was a poorly thrown pass, Hall was the first to look for it and get in position. TO could have made a play on that ball as well had he started looking for the ball the same time Hall did. And there were a number of times where Hall jammed TO at the line and threw off MCNabb/TO's timing (which helps explain some of those overthrown passes).

In any case I'm sure we're about to find out. I'd wager AdamJT13 knows exactly how many balls were thrown TO's way.

All this crap about Newman and Hall will playout throughout the season. Time will tell. But some of you are right Hall is getting a lot of credit for playing against T.O. Newman still has to overcome that popular perception of a sophmore slump. Henry and GLenn got all the publicity from game one. Newman got none, he has to step up and be a playmaker or he'll get left behind. AdamJT posted some awesome stats. But newman was Drafted 5th overall and he is in his 3rd yr. He has a lot to prove to me on the field not on paper. There's a reason JJ spent all that money on the secondary. I'm not a newman hater I just think its time for him to step up and be playmaker.

Stats aren't some trick of deception or slight of hand, its just putting a little elbow grease and homework into your posts instead of talking out of your arse. Regardless of what anyone says, all opinions are not the same. The one that puts hard work and effort to support his or her argument always carries more weight, which is why everyone stops down to read Adam's posts.

Really, there is no need to be so skeptical of numbers and data. They are your friend. They protect you from hearsay, anecdotes and faulty misconceptions. If it wasn't for statistical evidence you might actually believe in magic beans, placebos, miracle potions, snake oil or that 8 INT's in your first two years isn't being a playmaker at CB.

uh, the reason Newman got "none" was because he was hardly thrown at...I think 6 or 7 times out of 35 or so passes...

CB's cant be playmakers if they arnt thrown at...I really dont know what some of you expect to see...the kid was a pro bowl alternate as a rookie and played through a knee injury last yr

Good post and I'll second that. Some people have even suggested that Aaron glenn should replace Newman. I'll make two comments:

1.) Newman is so valuable, even though Parcells is very big on special teams and newman is by far our best punt returner BP is very hesitant to put Newman in as a punt returner for fear of him getting injured.

2.) Glenn was Newmans biggest fan in the pre season singing his praises to anyone who would listen.

- Newman was the single biggest reason next to Bill Parcells' arrival that Dallas made the playoffs in 2003.

- Statistically Newman compares with some of the best in history as Adam has demonstrated.

- Cowboys fans expect the very best from their high draft picks, but if pick #5 comes around and Deion Sanders isn't available, you take the best you can. Dallas had to draft someone they knew would be a good cornerback-- they absolutely could not afford to draft an outright bust. Newman was their best shot at a sure thing and he's come through, not having missed a single game-- maybe never missing a single defensive play-- since day one as a rookie.

Adam again lays the wood to the uninformed. Nice Job! Maybe certain posters who do not have experience with AdamJT13 would be best served to do a fraction of the research Adam does on a regular basis before they challenge him.

I found it. McNabb targeted TO 19 times! TO caught one pass in the last 31 minutes and zero in the Eagles final six drives.

Hmmm... Wouldn't you want the ball in the hands of your playmakers when you're playing from behind?

And before anyone goes blaming this on McNabb's injury realize he completed 37% of his passes to TO and 65% of his passes to everyone else.

Anyone ready to give Hall the credit he deserves now?

No, because I watched the whole game and saw Mcnabb miss Owens when he was wide open on numerous occassions.....

Hall played ok, but he didnt have 13 passes defensed and cover Owens like a blanket or anything...Owens probably should have had at least another 4 or 5 easy catches, but McNabb missed him

Then you also saw Hall jamming TO at the line and redirecting his routes. There were several missed passes that were the result of Hall throwing a wrench in TO's route and/or McNabb/TO's timing.

And I guess the fact that McNabb demonstrated twice the accuracy with everyone not named TO is merely coincidence, eh?

Yeah, I can see how a second year player - giving up almost 6 inches and 30 lbs to the most physical wideout in the game (playing man coverage no less) - holding TO to 7 outta 19 can be described as "ok."
