Regardless of what side of the argument you were on, we’re all “Dak Slobberers” now. Whether you like him or not, he’s got a star on his helmet for the next 4 years and he’s our quarterback.

So that’s a long way of saying, “from your lips to God’s ears”! Let’s hope he brings us to the promised land!

btw, next years crop of college draftees at QB look even worse than 2021. Its really bad. They knew what they had to do.Think about something guys. Dak Prescott is the last man standing at QB from the 2016 draft. He is the clear cut BEST QB from that draft, hands down. If they redrafted that draft he might go 1 overall. Hes that good.
I disagree about the 2021 draft for quarterbacks. There are 5-6 potentially very good quarterbacks in the draft and with a top 10 pick we could have landed one of them. Who knows how many will work out but there was another choice they didn't have to sign Prescott to this contract. I guess we will see how it all plays out.

  • A very cap friendly deal...
  • Still loads better than Wince...
  • Leaves us room to sign one maybe 2 impact FAs this year..
Man oh man. Is your popcorn ready yet?

I told you Dak was better than Wince. I also told you Dak was our future.

But this isn't about I told you so's...

This is about popcorn! That hot buttery golden salty treat that just leave you feeling oh so satisfied... Kinda the way I feel when Dak is in the driver's seat.

Get ready for the Dallas Cowboys to bring a championship to town within the next four years. It's happening folks. Brace yourselves for one incredible ride!

I love your enthusiasm! I’m ready for the draft

Agree, but how do we help his lack of football acumen between the ears

Seriously!!.........His football acumen? Your either watching the wrong channel or it’s YOUR football acumen that should be in question. Are you a college football coach? NFL coach? High School coach? QB coach? Any football experience besides watching it on tv?? So you can tell a QB’s football acumen by watching him play a game? WOW!! That means you could quit your job and go coach QB’s in the NFL!! Awesome!! When are you gonna give your boss your resignation?? Be sure to keep us posted on which NFL team hires you.

while I am glad we signed dak, outside of 2021 how is this a “very cap friendly deal” exactly? Sounds to me like it’s kinda the opposite and removes any chance of trading him if for some reason he flamed out.

Not saying I didn’t want to see dak sign but I don’t see that the cowboys for any type of deal out of it
He counts less than 23 mil against the cap this year... As opposed to potentially 38 mil if we had gone strictly with the franchise tag. Very cap-friendly this year...

I'd like to bring in offensive linemen or 2 with our FA and go straight defense on draft. My offseason dream is to bring in Martin from Houston and maybe a decent backup T for Tyron. Then straight D linemen and DBs in draft.

he can do it, as long as he has a decent defense and better situational coaching. He prove that in 2016.

What about 17 and 18. Those were even better teams. Dak won't get better teams than 16,17,18 in the next 4 years unfortunately.

16 was really enjoyable. I expected 6-10 at best. Was never a let down.

Football is a total team sport as you know. Dak isnt perfect, but at the same time, when you try to rely on your QB to drive ya down the field on 80 yard drives time and time again, its bound to go bad in a big way. They asked him to do far too much. The coaching in those years you mentioned was horrid. They did him no favors. Dak overcame much of the bad coaching in 2016 because he had Romo in his ear like a coach. Lets not forget that. He helped acclimate him. Tony deserves some credit on that front for being humble and being a team player. He really got Dak on track his rookie year.Once Romo retired Dak struggled. But he has gotten better and better. I am proud of him.

There is a no trade clause in his new deal.

And he will not flame out. He has proven he can when and put up numbers, just get a defense to help.
He will not get worse, and can only get better. Even if he does not improve that much he is still very good. but as all winning teams do, the need a complete team. This team is missing a defense and has for years.

Huge improvement from 2018 to 2019 on deep ball accuracy. Less fidgety in the pocket too. Making that much improvement in an offseason is a very positive sign for improvement going forward.

Easy fix for this year - get better at short passes to the backs. The placement is often poor, not letting them run through the catch.

Long term, he needs to see the field better. That usually comes with experience.
