I'd rather the Giants draft a CB with their 1st round pick.... as I don't think they'll get a better CB at 31 than Hall.

They'll have a nice young, athletic CB tandem.... and Hall's aggressiveness might be better utilized in NYs defense that has better talent and a good pass rush than has been in Atlanta....

That's a distinct possibility as he'll be playing behind arguably the league's best pass rush.

I do think the move makes sense on that level, but the Giants are giving up a #1 pick and a huge contract extension to do it. But from what I've read they're in excellent cap shape and can afford to.

I've just never felt that he was as good as he and some fans think he is.

I guess we'll see in 2008 if this deal happens.

It depends on who is there at 31. I'd rather they get Hall. More expensive.
Additionally John Clayton was just on NFL Live and said the G-Men would have to give up more than the 31st pick. A third rounder would have to be thrown in as well.

Hall is entering the last year of his deal, and he said he wouldn't play his final year without a new contract.

And given his previous stance on how he's defintiely going to try to break the bank... Either the Giants pay an absolute FORTUNE to him, or they lose him after a year.

So yes, everyone knows he's talented. But at what cost?

They have the cap room. It wont break them.

I'm not trying to be a smart alec. Are you related to Hall? If not, why are you taking other people's opinions about him so personally?

Not related and I do not take it personally. I lose no sleep over the hating of Hall.

I just find the hatred people have for his personality being used to try and make things up about the guy. They have been able to produce evidence of two elite recievers being able to burn him repeatedly but have yet to show where Hall is crushed by all these average recievers, they claim he's been crushed by routinely.

I'm not even a huge Hall fan, honestly, cause I don't like his personality either. But personality aside I don't try and slight a player and turn them into 'garbage' just because elite players beat them. If I did that I'd have to do it for every single Cornerback whose ever played.

Thats all. Nothing more, nothing less.

Guess you missed the numbers I posted.

Numbers which aren't exclusive to 'elite players'.

Of course it won't "break" them. But if you pay massive dollars to enough players -- and the Super Bowl champs are going to have plenty of guys who want to get paid -- you're going to run in to problems before long.

And to Braveheart -- this guy is more than a loudmouth who shaves trash talk into his head. Did you see the way he went after his coach last year? Yeah, maybe Petrino sucked as an NFL coach, but you don't ever do that... Ever.

Okay, fair enough. FYI, it will usually look that way (taking it personal) if you go from thread to thread about him re-inventing a debate you have raging in another thread about him.

I wouldn't touch him. I'd rather get a vet guy (like Springs) to be the 3rd CB, and who can fill in if one of the 2 starters goes down. Hall would expect to be and would claim to be the no doubt about it #1 guy. I prefer Newman and Henry both to Hall. Even if we added a vet like Springs I still want to draft a CB with one of the day 1 (1st and 2nd round) picks.

I saw a bunch of numbers that I honestly don't get what they relate to on the football field without being able to see all of his games.

What I gather is that guys average 10 yards a catch on him. Well is that 8 catches for 10 yards a catch, weekly, or is that a lot of guys getting 1-3 catches for 10 yards a catch and then a couple guys, like Johnson and Owens, getting huge games to help the stuff?

Cause, frankly, 10 yards a reception average doesn't tell me a lot. Unless they're saying that he gives up 8-10 catches a week, for 10 or more yards a catch, this doesn't help.

If he's giving up 3 catches for 30 yards and thus they're averaging 10 yards a catch that doesn't sway me to believe he sucks.

And like Vintage pointed out some of those same stats were used against Newman just 2 years ago, when he got a pro bowl snub, and people balked about how they weren't accurate and how Newman was screwed.

This is exactly my position on it as well.

Oh I agree. I'm totally on the bandwagon that the guy is an ***, and totally with Irvin's way of approaching things that the two guys you never go after are you HC and your QB.

But that doesn't translate, to me, in turning him into a piece of trash corner whose worse in coverage than Reeves.

That's all I'm saying.

Cool. Noted. I'll keep that in mind. Wasn't trying to make it look like I take it personally. It's football and there for it can't be personal for me. It's not about me. :)

I think they were more upset about the fact that Hall made the Pro Bowl while Newman didn't.

Anyone want to say that Hall's a better corner back than Newman now?

Adam schefter just reported that there is slim to no chance hall will be back in atlanta next season. Giants have offered there first pick, i say we offer our 28 sign him long term since we are getting old at cb. Bad attitude or not, hes a hell of a talent and only 23:eek: .

I would think not and I've never said such myself. I've always liked Newman more and I've thought of Newman as one of the top 4-5 corners in the league for 2 or 3 years now. I'm a big TNew fan.

No thanks, I'll pass. While he's talented, not worth the trouble IMO.
The same was said about Tank and T.O.

Granted, he comes off as a punk, but he's still one of the better corners in the league and our secondary is still far from elite, especially with an injury prone #2 CB.
