There is a difference. Last year no one, and I mean no one, expected the Giants to win the SB. This year you guys were self proclaimed champs and media champs before the season started, and the Giants were still expected to collapse.

Giants may falter, any given Sunday right?!?! But you can not deny that the Giants not only surprised the world last season but this season as well.

You realize that's the entire world, right? I'm sure someone, somewhere in, Bora Bora let's say, that you may have missed in asking if they thought the Giants would win the SB.

You believe including the "world" into your post that it makes it more believeable? Or is this a scare tactic?

I apologize for snapping at you like that. If the boys were in the Giants shoes I would probably be gloating a bit too. But you see, I live in the New York area, with a Giants fan, and I hear this ALL DAY EVERY DAY. It just grates on my nerves a little bit

I think you're giving Eli a little bit too much credit. I don't deny that he is a solid quarterback, but I don't think he is anywhere near as talented as Romo.

Oh, and I hope you'll come back after we whoop your butts on the 14th :laugh2:

He won't. Most of the time they don't.

Hey Cowboys fans. I am crashing your board.

So I was looking through some threads here to see what some of you guys are saying, and I couldn't help but notice what some of you guys are saying about the Giants.

It seems as if a lot of you guys are hoping the Plaxico situation will be a constant distraction for the Giants and really hurt them. I don't think this could be further from the case. This is the most focused team in the league. They already manhandled the Commanders just two days after the Plaxico story came out. This "distraction" is not going to make them miss a beat.

Some of you also seem to be hopeful that Pierce might be suspended by the team, the league, or else the city of New York. It is worth pointing out that a suspension from any source is highly unlikely. Pierce is cooperating with city officials. It is highly doubtful he will face criminal charges as long as he continues to cooperate with the police. There may be some rumors that swirl around about an obstruction of justice charge on his part but don't expect anything to come of it. If you think Pierce is going to be suspended you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

As far as Plaxico goes, there is no way losing a #1 receiver is a GOOD thing for the team. However, I really do not believe the Giants will be hurt by his loss. For some proof, the Giants are 3-0 in games in which he has not played, and have outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points in those games. Furthermore, the three games Plaxico has missed have coincided with three of Eli's best games of the year. Since a great week 1, Plaxico hasn't had much of an impact for the Giants anyway. Dominic Hixon stepped into Plaxico's shoes on Sunday and had more yards receiving than Plaxico has had in a long while. Finally, cutting ties with Plaxico cuts ties with what was clearly the most uncooperative player on the team. Simply put, the Giants don't need Plaxico.

Tiki Barber
Jeremy Shockey
Michael Strahan
Osi Umeniyora
Plaxico Burress

It doesn't matter who the Giants lose, the team just keeps rolling. The Giants truly play as a team and not merely a collection of talented individuals. In fact, this is part of what makes them thrive. I added Plaxico to the list because he has basically been M.I.A. since week 1 even before he pulled the trigger.

And one other thing worth mentioning... because of the structure of Plaxico's contract, the Giants are going to be able to get the vast majority of the $35 million back. That gives them more cap room in the coming seasons to sign and/or keep other good players that the Giants otherwise would not have been able to hang onto.

So, while Cowboys fans understandably may be hoping this whole Plaxico incident leads to some sort of Giants downward spiral, a feeling that the national media is doing its best to instill in people, don't bet on it.

---

As for my thoughts on the Cowboys, I think they are going to have a tough time of making it to the playoffs. The problem is right now they are losing the tiebreaker to the Falcons. The Cowboys are a better team than the Falcons, but with their schedule, the Cowboys are going to have to win AT LEAST 3 games to make the playoffs. 4 wins gets them in for sure, 2 wins assures that they will miss the playoffs, and 3 wins is a probably/maybe.

I will admit this: I think the Cowboys are the second best team in the NFC, as well as a top 5 team in the NFL. As a Giants fan, I certainly don't want to be facing the Cowboys in the playoffs, I must admit. The Giants will be the bona fide favorites no matter who they play, but if I could take my pick of which NFC teams I would like to play in the playoffs, the Cowboys would be my last pick.

That said, the Giants are going to make it back-to-back Super Bowls this year, and Eli Manning will only further solidify his legend. But don't listen to me, I'm just a Giants fan. ;)

Of course you were a guy saying Tki was right, Coughlin sucks, Eli sucks...then fast forward 5 months...ELI ROCKS!!! COUGHLIN IS GOD!!!

I know you will not believe me, but actually, I was not saying that.

I certainly did not think the Giants would win a Super Bowl last year, but I was not calling for Eli and Coughlin's head last year either.

Do not ever compare this year's Giants team to the Cowboys teams of the nineties. Ever again.

The Cowboys in the nineties won three. If the Giants do that, then it's a fair comparison. Until then no. Even two is special. Lot's of teams have won one and looked good doing it. The 2000 Ravens or the 85 Bears.

Okay, I will ask you now. Did you think the Giants would have the success they are having both now, and at the end of last year? My guess is no.

You guys actually played very well in Dec-started off with 2 road wins, albeit impressively, against teams that were fighting for their playoff lives too(Chicago and Philly), then you went on the road 2 weeks later to beat Buffalo in heavy rain, a team that was playing with alot of emotion with Kevin Everett on the sidelines.

As for the Skins loss at home sandwiched in b/w? The Skins lost Taylor and were playing with alot of emotion down the stretch(alot like the Saints and Katrina the year before), plus NFCE battles are unpredictable anyways. And you guys almost ended the Pats unbeated streak in the last week.

So yeah-you guys DID finish strongly, FWIW.

*shrugs* We got incredibly lucky to beat lowly Buffalo and Detroit last year. Otherwise, we may not even have had a 1st round bye to begin with.

Never thought I would agree with a skins fan, but I'm on board with you on this one.

I'm sure you do. I guess that comes with being the best.

Your win/loss record isn't an accurate account of your talent.

Need I remind you that your sole loss came to the Browns. And they made your "vaunted" defense look like eleven different flavors of clam chumpder.

Teams can find ways to lose.
Teams can also find ways to not win.

Keep that in mind down the stretch because we're going to see just how your team meshes together now that some of your impact players are under fire.

Thank you for sealing your fate. You're not the best until you prove something, which the Giants have not done yet. The Patriots were being called the greatest team ever last year, but by my tally 18-1 equals failure.

Maybe it's just me.

Oh, and even though I'm an agnostic, I might convert just to pray daily for an early exit by the Giants.

FWIW, I hated the Giants long before their fans were diluted enough to think they are the best.

They're a good team, no doubt. On that note, let it be known that I predicted right here on CZ On December 6th, 2008 that not only will the Giants not win the Super Bowl this season, but they will not even make it.

They will make an exit from the playoffs in glorious fashion, by a final score of 42-12. Remember these words, they will eat at you the entire offseason buddy.
