Honestly i don't think the Burress situation is a distraction at all
they have been playing good without and eli his self said that burress isn't even his favorite receiver to go to.
the giants are lookin way better then they did last year
i think they are stronger but

Burress was a ticking time bomb ready to explode this year. He goes from crying for more money when he already got big $$ to faking yet another injury in TC so he could get more money to looking lost at times this year during games to getting suspended early in the season to now this stunt he pulled.

Whether you're a Giants fan or not, anybody should have seen this coming from a long way.

No, of course I don't feel that way. When I say he "led" the Giants I am just saying he is the team leader, as the QB almost always is for a team. No doubt Strahan was also a leader for the Giants last year, but so was Eli.

Of course the Giants wouldn't have gone anywhere without outstanding play from their defense. But without outstanding play from Eli in the playoffs last year the Giants wouldn't have won anything either.

I haven't made up my mind about Eli yet. He clearly doesn't have the talent that Romo has. I've appointed him a luxury coach bus driver for now. We'll see. If he keeps winning big games and getting SBs then he'll get more attention.

Most people acknowledge that NY is a very disciplined team and gets the most mileage it can from its talent.

Listen guys.... let me tell you about Giants fans in NY.

1. They know and some concede that is was luck last year
2. They dont think they should have beat us last year
3. They know we have the better players and if we get it together - we can take them out.
4. They know that if we beat them and knock them off that its gonna be one of those "well the Giants were more lucky than real last year" = and that concerns them.
5. IF we go to SB... the Giants are history.

However, that does not mean I think the Giants are a shoe-in for the Super Bowl this year. No team ever is.

And if the Giants get eliminated in the divisional round this year, that doesn't take away anything from what the Giants accomplished last season. That's just not how it works.

Hmmm... so you're telling me that winning in Tampa, in Dallas, in Green Bay, and then against the undefeated Patriots last year to win the Super Bowl as well as the Super Bowl MVP award, all while maintaining a QB rating for the postseason that was just a hair short of 100, and then playing his team to an 11-1 record the next season, including 6 straight wins over teams with winning records in his last 6 games, while maintaining a QB rating over 90 and being a fantastic team leader and in-game manager is not outstanding, then I don't know what is....

Those are the Net passing yards the Giants had in your playoff run last year. Those are hardly the numbers of an all-world QB. Those are hardly numbers of a great QB.

Now....I'll be the first to say that Eli won those games, and is a good QB. But, he had a TON of help from a very good defense.

As a matter of fact, against us we pretty much had Eli bottled up. Your offense didn't do much against us at all. You had your first drive extended by a poor offsides call and a stupid missed tackle. Your last score was aided by a great return that never would've happened if Crayton hauls in an easy pass.....actually, that never should've happened either....a stupid unsportsmanlike penalty by Flo took away a first down and brought third and long.

Anyway, Manning was merely a game manager. There's nothing wrong with that. That's all he needs to be. He's continued that role this season.

You are underestimating his performance a little bit.

Just because Eli does not usually throw for 300+ yards does not mean he is not capable of it. The Giants are not a team that wants to throw that often given the running game they have.

Yet Eli's quarterback rating last postseason was nearly 100. He only threw 1 interception in the entire postseason, an unlucky INT as the pass was deflected off of his own receiver. Now granted, he threw one up there that Asante Samuel easily could have had, but that's how football works. Sometimes when you don't deserve to be intercepted, you are anyway, and vise-versa. It balanced out.

Actually, this guy hasn't been too bad. He actually has the one argument you can't rebutt.....They won.....we didn't.

A lot of folks have made a big deal of Romo's lack of playoff wins. But most forget that the same thing was said of Eli and Peyton both.

I think Romo has played ok in both playoff losses. Many people remember the botched snap....but most forget that it was Romo that led us down the field and put us in position for the FG anyway. There was also the fact that our defense was so inconsistent at the end of games that year. There was no doubt in my mind that Seattle would've taken the ball with a minute plus left, and scored anyway.

Also factor in the 7 turnovers that NY capitalized on that took potential points off the board of their opponents .......turnovers that Eli had no part in.

I'm not saying Eli is bad, because he is obviously a good QB. But to come here and say he is a "legend" and he played "outstanding" are half truths. He played well enough for NY not to lose, but it was clearly the defense that played outstanding enough for them to win.

Fair point, but keep in mind a couple of things...

1) I do not think the Giants are a shoe-in to make the Super Bowl. In fact, the odds are against them making the Super Bowl. If the Giants lose in the divisional round, I will NOT be shocked.

2) The Giants winning or losing this year has nothing to do with what I say about them, just as the Cowboys losing last year had nothing to do with the high level of confidence you guys had in them.

3) There is no doubt Cowboy fans great underestimated the Giants last season. I don't think the Giants fans feel the same way about the Cowboys this season. We realize how talented the Cowboys are...

I think you're giving Eli a little bit too much credit. I don't deny that he is a solid quarterback, but I don't think he is anywhere near as talented as Romo.

I see where you're coming from.....But other than the last drive of the Super Bowl Manning never really had to carry the team anywhere.

They carried him.

Believe us, we know what leadership from a QB can do. We know how a great QB doesn't have to throw for HUGE numbers to be effective.

Look no further than Troy Aikman.

Most will say the same things about Aikman that you're saying about Eli. Most will say that he benefitted from Emmitt and the running game. But in the playoffs, it was Aikman's passing that opened up the running game in the second half.

Look no further than the Niner game and Super Bowl to see this in action. Emmitt was bottled up early....he wasn't getting many carries. But Aikman surgically began carving up the Niners and Bills. His strikes to Harper showed he was big-time.

Eli had very few moments like this. He was merely asked to not put the defense in a bad position...rather than win the game. Of course, he did a great job of this.

Personally-I never cared for the Giants-never liked them, nor hated them. Was just always indifferent about them.

Now the Eagles-my hatred for them is FAR more than the Skins.
