Just a sad state of affairs -- it really goes to show how far we have to go for Black people to be considered equal in America.

Really? Wow.....

Get out of here with that political/racist crap. Thanks for causing yet another Kap thread to be shut down.

I don't see where skin color plays into it(BLM?,,,o.k. I get that,if that's the angle your coming from)
I think his negatives in the court of public opinion orbit solely around the perceived disrespect he displayed regardless of his heritage.
And I was on his bandwagon when he first hit the scene, he's lead his team to victory over ours and looked pretty good doing it.

That's the problem, though -- the false narrative of it being disrespectful has absolutely nothing to do with the message. People never want to hear the message - they just want to whine about the method.

Plus...how many of those people screaming disrespect are the same ones you see at sporting events swigging a beer, not taking their hat off, not standing up, fooling around during the anthem...? The hypocrisy is hilarious.

He's a better QB than the Giants, Bears, Vikings, 49ers, Rams, Browns, Ravens, Jets, Bills, Texans, Jaguars, Denver, & Kansas City will field this season

You know something,bro?
I've re-read our conversation and guess I've jumped over that early onslaught of the whole
" false premise " part as that in itself lays a crafty ' snooker- doodle/casing-liner pitfall for the dictating of the desired direction of topic( crafty/sly / silver tail that u r)
Still,,,pretty good exchange on thoughts /views, Friend.

I think the biggest issue is that he doesn't want to ride the bench, and why should he? He posted a career best in QB rating and completion percentage last year with street free agents playing WR.

It's still hilarious to me, though, that a team like the Jets wouldn't kick the tires. They're going to be laughably bad at quarterback this year and have the talent for Kaepernick to turn out a pretty good season.

Just a sad state of affairs -- it really goes to show how far we have to go for Black people to be considered equal in America.

I think the Jets want to go through a rebuild/retool.

They have cut Harris, and will cut Decker if no one wants him via trade.
After those moves, they will have only 4 players above the age of 30.
One being Josh McCown, another Matt Forte and two guys I never heard of before.

“I think the Jets might have the worst roster I’ve seen in a decade,” one anonymous league executive told NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah in the wake of the team’s latest moves.

Especially with the chance that next years QB class could have some legit top talent, I see the Jets as tanking/saving money this year.

Exactly, lol. My belief is to just get rid of the national anthem before sporting events altogether. It's a relic of the World Wars past when we needed to find ways to instill patriotism in the citizenry to rally against the enemy. It serves no purpose now and if taking a knee is considered disrespectful then the anthem has been disrespected for decades.

It always - ALWAYS - pisses me off when a bunch of jackwagons in the stands holler out "OHHHHH!" During the last stanza. I'd guarantee at least 1 of those muldoons is on Twitter right now hating on Kaepernick.

This is a very real possibility and a legitimate explanation. Perhaps they don't even want to be good because they want some high picks? And Kaepernick would be just good enough to put a team with a bad roster into the no mans land of draft picks that won't help an already depleted roster -- that like, 16-22 range.

I don't disagree, in fact I emphatically agree (especially in Moore's case), but a backup QB whom we hope and pray never sees the field, just isn't worth the distraction he would bring to Big D, imo, Cas.

The fact that it would be a distraction saddens me, but it's America.

Just glad that at least you're not out here saying he's not a good player which is just people smokin on that Hater Kush lol.

Oh no, he'd be a great backup (if he was content with the role; there's also that dynamic, too. But he'd be foolish to think he'd ever start with our young, franchise QB in front of him), but as you said, and can plainly see throughout the media-circus and posts on this board, he'd bring just too much dang baggage (scrutiny; right or wrong) to offset his use as a backup, Cas.

I went over all the rosters to see where possible fits were.

In these cases, we assume ownership can get past Kap's active stance on various issues last year.
Here are the OTHER things teams weigh for a backup QB:
1) salary requirements
2) how good is the player vs his expectations to start
3) how well will the backup support the starter
4) does player get in way of developing young QB just drafted highly
5) is team in rebuild mode or a possible contender

Some backup possibilities if all the stars line up....
  • Tampa Bay--if they like the fit with Winston--Kap's better than Ryan Griffin. If Winston goes down they are toast.
  • Arizona--Kap's better than Stanton and Az is a team that can contend...so Palmer going down would kill them.
  • Buffalo--if they prefer him over developing Cardale Jones. Kap currently is better
  • Minnesota-- one year deal until Teddy gets back
others
  • Green Bay... not sure how much they like Hudley. Kap is currently better
  • Indy...I know they like Tolzien there, but ....
  • SD...k Clemmons is the backup. If Kap fits ok with Rivers, he upgrades them.
  • Jax...lol...who knows. They drafted Brandon Allen just last year and like him. Also have Henne.
  • NYJ...except maybe doing full yoth movement
  • Baltimore--depending on what they think of Mallett (who is similar to Flacco) Kap is better

To me, he is not an option for a rebuilding team who is doing a youth movement, unless they think strogly that he is the long term answer.
So NYJ, Clev, SF are probably out

It seems that contending teams with a great defense who would be in real trouble if the start went down...would be logical suitors if everything else matched up.

That's why AZ, TB, and maybe Buff or Minn would make sense if all other stars lined up.
