I went over all the rosters to see where possible fits were.

In these cases, we assume ownership can get past Kap's active stance on various issues last year.
Here are the OTHER things teams weigh for a backup QB:
1) salary requirements
2) how good is the player vs his expectations to start
3) how well will the backup support the starter
4) does player get in way of developing young QB just drafted highly
5) is team in rebuild mode or a possible contender

Some backup possibilities if all the stars line up....
  • Tampa Bay--if they like the fit with Winston--Kap's better than Ryan Griffin. If Winston goes down they are toast.
  • Arizona--Kap's better than Stanton and Az is a team that can contend...so Palmer going down would kill them.
  • Buffalo--if they prefer him over developing Cardale Jones. Kap currently is better
  • Minnesota-- one year deal until Teddy gets back
others
  • Green Bay... not sure how much they like Hudley. Kap is currently better
  • Indy...I know they like Tolzien there, but ....
  • SD...k Clemmons is the backup. If Kap fits ok with Rivers, he upgrades them.
  • Jax...lol...who knows. They drafted Brandon Allen just last year and like him. Also have Henne.
  • NYJ...except maybe doing full yoth movement
  • Baltimore--depending on what they think of Mallett (who is similar to Flacco) Kap is better

To me, he is not an option for a rebuilding team who is doing a youth movement, unless they think strogly that he is the long term answer.
So NYJ, Clev, SF are probably out

It seems that contending teams with a great defense who would be in real trouble if the start went down...would be logical suitors if everything else matched up.

That's why AZ, TB, and maybe Buff or Minn would make sense if all other stars lined up.
Dallas could've been on the list, but since I think it is not even a consideration, I kept them off.

Exactly, lol. My belief is to just get rid of the national anthem before sporting events altogether. It's a relic of the World Wars past when we needed to find ways to instill patriotism in the citizenry to rally against the enemy. It serves no purpose now and if taking a knee is considered disrespectful then the anthem has been disrespected for decades.

It always - ALWAYS - pisses me off when a bunch of jackwagons in the stands holler out "OHHHHH!" During the last stanza. I'd guarantee at least 1 of those muldoons is on Twitter right now hating on Kaepernick.
Certainly can't argue with that. It makes alot of sense.... in a good way.

I think the biggest issue is that he doesn't want to ride the bench, and why should he? He posted a career best in QB rating and completion percentage last year with street free agents playing WR.

It's still hilarious to me, though, that a team like the Jets wouldn't kick the tires. They're going to be laughably bad at quarterback this year and have the talent for Kaepernick to turn out a pretty good season.

Just a sad state of affairs -- it really goes to show how far we have to go for Black people to be considered equal in America.

Nonsense. I'm tired of, for lack of a better term, reverse racism.

When can people start taking an intellectual look at the problems instead of emotional overreacting and finger pointing? It feels good for people to point the finger at others, but the finger pointers are usually part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Police don't intentionally kill people because they're black.
Blacks have lower incomes than whites on average.
Lower income people (all races) commit more crimes.
People involved in crime have more interaction with police.
More interaction with police results in more chances for police to make mistakes.

Lack of income/wealth is the problem, not racist police.

For those who may be confused about what white privilege looks like, see Exhibit A.

To me he should be judge based on his ability and skill.Right or wrong It is the unpopular opinions that should Be protected by freedom of speech.
I might disagree but I will defend his right to express his voice. Now he should do that outside football.
He disrespected the flag and the country that allows freedom of speech...lol
What he did had nothing to do with speaking out about something

Yep. Worse for the NFL. He put on the 49'ers uniform and used the NFL's considerable stage to do it. That was his downfall. No player has the right to do that. If he wanted to make some statement he should have put on a suit and tie and called a news conference as a citizen and said his piece!

As an aside, sorry your Pops is a Ravens fan :muttley::star:

He's a Vietnam Veteran and a lot of his friends feel the same way.

Well he's celebrated 2 SB's since we last won one. lol He used to be a Baltimore Colt fan. He was rooting for them all the way back when Johnny Unitas was the QB. At least he didn't become a Deadskin fan when they left town. lol

Respect to a fellow brother in Arms. Many of my friends are from your dad's generation. I go to groups (well, a single combat group. I don't do the other nonsense groups at the VA, but that's neither here nor there) with them every week. There was a Purple Heart group (combat wounded) with a lot of great friends of mine in it, but the group was too small so they stopped/discontinued it.

Still, my combat group is my home. Mad respect to your Pops, PA

And I hear you on the Deadskin part! :star:

Good stuff by all the peeps here! Patriotism is not political although many people confuse the two. All peeps can be patriots: liberals, conservatives, blacks, whites, and all the colors in between! Young, old, notherners, southerners!
