Giants signing Chauncey Golston

If a strong side DE, especially one who could slide inside on 3rd downs like Burch is sitting there with the 2nd!
Yeah, it a strong possibility! In fact I’d be shocked if they were willing to hang there hat on Kneeland just yet. Guessing they were hedging that Goulston would make it to the weekend and resign low!
I will be surprised if we take a DE before the third round. They don't know what Kneeland is going to become, but he cost them a second-round pick last year, so I think they'll wait and see.

The year after we took Sam Williams in the second, we didn't take a DE until the fourth (Fehoko). The year after we took Gregory in the second (following taking Lawrence in the second the previous year), we didn't take a DE until the fourth (Tapper).

I just don't see it as a strong possibility. Maybe if the best player available is a DE and is a far greater value than anyone else available.

Armstrong has been good for the Skins, Hitchens was good, Chido was good, Marty B. Yes, these guys have gone on to have decent careers.

The deal Golston signed was reasonable. Lewis deal was too much.
I didn't say "good". I said go on to have better careers than they had in Dallas.

Golston deal was expensive for a backup and he'd be a back up here. IF he was a starter i'd agree.

No one every said a kind word about Golston on this board -- for four years, we've heard how much he sucked.

Now we are "doing nothing while other teams are getting better!" because we let him go.

Pick a lane folks.

Lot of teams are signing Dallas bench players. That actually shows strength.
Strength that left to play for another team. Their replacements need to show more strength. The Dallas Cowboys are in the bottom half of the NFL. They are worse right now than they were 24 hours ago. This is not encouraging.

Armstrong had a solid year with 5 sks. Dante Fowler had 10.5 sks. Hitchens was a mike lb on a super bowl team, Biadasz had his best season, Chido's best years were with the Bengals, Schultz has still been a solid if not above average TE with the Texans.
You guys keep rewording what I asked lol. I said who left here and had a better career. Fowler was a beast before coming to Dallas. Armstrong was much better here as a backup then he was in Washington. Hitchens was the same player he was here I wouldn't say he was necessarily better or worse...just a guy....Schultz had much better years in Dallas. Biadiz was a PRo Bowler here.

But i'd consider Tyler a success story with Fowler. A double digit sack guy is pretty good.

I mean this is gonna happen. You don't sign backups or average talent to big deals. You replace them with draft picks. Or older veterans. You can't sign everyone. By no means should the Cowboys have a backup geting paid this much. Its mismanagent of your cap.

There were people here complaining that Armstrong should be cut while he was still on his rookie contract.
Same ones laughed and scoffed when he was resigned his the first time he was a FA.
Same ones were screaming when we didn’t resign him the 2nd time!
Picking a lane isn’t what people here do!

Lawrence, Parsons, Armstrong, Williams, Golston and Fowler… wasn’t much need to take an End.
Currently we have Parsons, Kneeland (unproven), Williams (ACL) and the Mississippi kid that got benched last season.
Yeah, it’s a huge need at the Strong side especially when you consider they like a rotation of guys that can actually play productive snaps!

Dallas actually had good depth on the DL 2 seasons ago. Not an elite starting group, but a solid rotation. Sad to see it go.

We'll see.

Right now, I'd expect our first two picks to be WR and RB, but that can change pretty quickly. I don't think it's going out on a limb to say that our No. 1 and No. 2 at DE is better than our No. 1 and 2 at RB and WR at the moment. Of course, we may think we can improve RB later in a deep draft. I think that's a mistake that often has backfired on this team. (Needed an RB last year and didn't draft one at all. Needed one the year before and waited until the fifth round. Tony Pollard is the only successful third-day RB we've taken since 2008, out of six backs.)

The teams that signed this year’s top free agents will be drafting players and able to sign older veterans as needed, too. The Dallas Cowboys did not gain an advantage over most other teams in the league today, particularly the Commanders. The Eagles lost significant talent, but they just won the Super Bowl, so no one cares. The Cowboys haven’t come close to one in decades. Fans here care about today’s net outflow. Not going to pass it off with it’s “gonna happen”.

C'mon now.
Golston started 13 games.
56 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 5 TFL
I'll take that from SDE. Add in there's not at SDE but Kneeland n Wheat it's questionable.

What does it say about a team that can't win anything and yet, even their fringe players are highly coveted?

Here’s a question I have for you guys….

Do these guys we lose end up going on to have better careers? I can only think of Martellus. But all these guys who leave like the Dorance Armstrongs, Randy Gregory, Anthony Hitchens, the Biadiz, Chido, Dalton……

Genuine question because I can’t think of any but I feel I’m missing someone.
DeMarcus Ware?

Its amusing how many of yall crapped all over Golston leading up to last season and are pissed now.
