If we are looking at WRs, this is probably the starting point for cost. Players like Cooks and Moore are more accomplished than Toney, so they are probably going to cost more ... unless their teams are primarily trying to unload their salaries.

I hear what you are saying but Cooper wasn't on a rookie deal. Salary certainly had something to do with it. That being said Cooper is still much more of an accomplished player than Toney is. The Jones boys backed themselves into a corner with Cooper and weren't dealing from a position of strength which is the worst way to make a trade.

For reference, Cowboys were at 10 in 2021 draft, giants at 11, eagles at 12.

Giants wanted Devonta Smith. Eagles traded with Dallas to move up ahead of NYG and get DeVonta smith. Dallas moved back and got Micah. Giants traded out of 11 and picked up Toney instead. Didn’t even last 25 games with the team.
