NY Post is reporting that they're moving Kiwi back to DE and not pursuing Strahan.
Tuck and Kiwanuka at starting DE isn't horrid if they have decent OLBs.

Kiwi and Tuck would make for an above average set of DEs but Strahan and Osi were both top 10 DEs.

I think what might hurt more is the nickel D they were running last year with Tuck at DT and Strahan/Osi at DE. They generated a massive pass rush without having to blitz. They likely won't have that privilege this year.

They were wise to keep drafting all these guys. Losing Ellis and Ware would be much more catastrophic in comparison.

Kiwi - what is my role?
No Strahan and Usi = MAJOR drop off at DE -

Hall of Famer and future Hall of Famer gone.

These are the things that were being said about NY's running game last season. They finished with 6 yards less than 2006. Kiwanuka is good, i like Tuck but i think Kiwi will be better and that's saying alot. Kiwi weighs about 5 lbs more than Osi and is 2 ins taller (at 6-5).

Kiwanuka, who was widely regarded as one of the best pass rushing defensive ends in college, led the Big East Conference in sacks during the 2003 and 2004 seasons with 11.5 each season. He was a first-team All-American in 2004 and 2005. In 2005 he was named ACC Preseason Player of the Year, and was also named to multiple preseason All-America teams.

your Cinderella team isn't gonna find it's slipper this year.

The stage is being set. Everyone picks Dallas to go to the SB, just like last year and players expect to go without earning it. Cowboys are undisciplined. Parcell's was good for your team, now he's gone and so is the discipline. It all comes down to winning when you have to.

Romo is a choker, his college team made a bowl game with him at QB 3 years in a row, and lost all 3. Cowbillies made the playoffs last 2 years and loss the first game of each year. Including last year as number one seed which the #1 seed was 17-0 the last 17 years.

Parcells was good for us, he brought in some good talent but much like Coach Gibbs the game had passed him bye

how many playoff games did Eli lose before he won one? and if Asante samuel doesn't let that pass go through his hands on your superbowl winning drive than i'm sure you would still be like most Giant fans who were calling for Eli to be benched or traded just like last year before you had your cinderella run. Eli was a choker at 1 time too. so was his brother or so they said.

I don't blame losing playoff games on Romo, Dallas has not won one in 12 years. Romo just hasn't helped any. Asante could have saved the game for NE, just like if Glenn had caught a TD in the end zone, the Cowboys would have been going to GB, but it didn't happen.

I didn't want Eli, i wanted Ben. But you have to play the hand you're delt.

do you know the history of your team the year after they won the superbowl and how they fared?

Most teams don't repeat. I'll be happy with 2 wins against the Cowboys. The Giants will do alright. They have a coach who believes in discipline that can and will crack the whip.

Are you at the library checking out those free videos?

I will probably get fried for this, but I think Umenyiora is severely overrated. Yes he put up good numbers last year -- 13 sacks is pretty impressive. However almost half of those sacks came in one game, against Winston Justice.

In his 19 remaining games, he put up 7 sacks, including none in the playoffs.

I think that's as close to a compliment as I am going to get around here, so I think I should say thanks...but that's not my style :D

Here's what it does do: It kills their depth. They are now moving Kiwanuka back to DE from LB. And starting a relative unknown (unknown as in I have no idea who they are starting). Additionally there is a transition period moving from LB to DE -- we saw it with Andre Carter (all homerism aside -- I would take over Umenyiora). Justin Tuck is going to get a lot of attention now sans Osi and Strahan. Their pass rush could very well struggle in the early going.

Sept 4 becomes a very winnable game for the Skins -- if they can survive the early wave of emotion.

You might be right, in that case there won't be any drop off. Osi did nail Romo a few times in the playoffs when Dallas' line got tired, it was enough to ice the game. Making the plays when you have to is all that counts.

Kiwanuka is a natural DE, even thou he played LB he still lined up at DE at times.

EAST RUTHERFORD - Four years after leaving Jacksonville, Tom Coughlin has brought his first former Jaguars player to the Giants.
08_0313_clark.gif
The Giants added depth at LB by signing free agent Danny Clark from the Texans. Linebacker Danny Clark , who has played for Jacksonville, Oakland, New Orleans and Houston, today signed a contract with the Giants. A 6-2, 245-pounder, Clark is entering his ninth NFL season.
Danny Clark is a player I drafted a few years ago in Jacksonville,” Coughlin said. “We’re bringing him in as an outside linebacker. He is a very physical, very versatile player. Over the years, he has been a very good special teams player. Clark is a veteran guy with an outstanding work ethic. He will fit in well with our players in the locker room. He will have an opportunity to compete for a position.”
“He is a veteran linebacker who can play all three spots,” general manager Jerry Reese said. “He has been an outstanding special teams player. He is going to create competition in both areas, special teams and at linebacker. He fits the New York Giant mold.”

Giants are starting the season much like last year. Hey, they got no pass rush, they lost their SS and a LB, plus MS retired. Will Eli throw the game away?

As was Andre Carter before being converted to LB in San Fran. He went through a very difficult transition when he went back to putting his hand on the ground. It took him several weeks to "re-learn" that position.
