How did this mediocre team get to the Sb?...I'm still baffled by this. They barely made it threw the regulr season and IMO got lucky to beat the Cowboys and needed bret favre to play like Eli Manning to win.

I don't think this years Giants team is the worst SB team ever.

I think the Giants team that made their last SB appearance vs. the Ravens was the worst ever.

This team ranks 2nd.

They won 10 games and started playing better football heading into the playoffs. I don't think they did anything special but they avoided penalties and turnovers in other words they did not do things to beat themselves and the Cowboys and Packers did not do enough to take the game from the Giants. Face it the Giants had a hard road to make it: at Tampa, at Dallas and at GB so they took on the 4th seed, the 1st seed and the 2nd seed and won on the road. They deserve to be there

Exactly.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

And the Giants finished very strong.

+1 agreed, they won what 10 or straight on the road? they got their act together later in the second half of the season unlike the cowboys. they deserve to be there, they are better than both the packers and the cowboys. teams prove it on the field not on paper, yes the cowboys and packers might have better talent but talent alone doesnt win championships.

It's called penalty after penalty falling in favor of the Giants. Do you know how much yellow laundry between the Cowboys and Packers (the two best NFC teams) games there was that went in favor of the Giants?

I've never seen so many penalties fall in favor of one team, propelling them to the Super Bowl.

They were clearly the better team on that day. The overall talent of the Giants to me is not overly impressive but they did what they had to do to win and just as important they did not do the things that will cause you to lose and no one can take that away from them.

I'd say this team ranks down there. The 2000 Giants are surely in the bottom two or three, the 2005 Seahawks and Stealers would be right there too. The 1979 Rams (9-7) had the worst record. The 2003 Panthers and the 2002 Bucs/Raiders were not greatness personified either.

Yes the Giants avoided penalties and Dallas and GB did not and add to that the Pack turned the ball over. Dallas had a problem with flags all season long and it hurt us in the post season we have no one to blame other than Cowboys for that.

That's it in a nutshell.

There's a lot to be said for simply playing smart football and not committing stupid penalties and turning the ball over.

The Giants aren't nearly as bad as many are "wishing" them to be. They finished the year playing well coached, well disciplined, mistake-free football . . . the same cannot be said for Dallas or GB.

Am I glad they are there? Of course not..........do they deserve to be there........well..............ya they do.

Are you high?

They went to Tampa and won.
They went to Dallas and won.
They went to Green Bay and won.

And accomplished all this with a banged-up group. That's not mediocre. That's not luck.

Let's give them their due. We'll get another shot at them next year.

Say what you want, but the Giants played like they wanted it during the playoffs, and the Cowboys/Packs/Bucs all played like crap when it mattered. Dallas played like they didn't even care to be out there.

It sure sucks that the Giants worst Super Bowl team ever beat one of the Cowboys best regular season teams ever when it mattered.

The 1979 Rams who went 9-7 that season are the worst SB team ever.

People are upset now that #1 seed Dallas lost in the divisional round this year. Then #1 seed Dallas lost to those Rams in the divisional round.

Can you imagine what this message board would look like if it were around back then?

I bet Staubach would have been in the cross hairs because he went 13 of 28 for 150 yards 1 TD 1 INT.

Imagine all the "I am glad Staubach is retiring. Good riddance." posts.

"Trade Dorsett for a bigger punishing back." He had a good game carrying the ball 17 times for 101 yards and a TD.

"Tony Hill is never going to be anything special. Get rid of him." He had 1 catch for 0 yards.

"How the hell does the defense give up 21 points to Vince Freakin Ferragamo? Get rid of them all". Vince went 9 of 21 for 210 yards 3 TDs and 2 INTs

REALLY?

Let's see, three road playoff victories over the #4, #1, and #2 seeds.

Sorry folks. That speaks to a very good team.
