Twitter: Gil Brandt tweet re: Chaz Green

Everyone around here said our 27th pick was really a 2nd round pick, so wouldn't our 3rd round pick really be a 4th???

That would put Green right in the early portion of his projections. Either way Dallas brought him in for a visit and obviously really liked him.

I have learned to trust their evaluations over a bunch of internet posters with agendas.

each year we go through this assault on players by fans
leading up to the draft most seem reasonable and make all
the cliche-ed reasoned statements, then the draft comes and .........?
Chaz Green is so aggressive that he blocks HIS OWN MAN! :muttley:

thats funny stuff

No way he'll be successful. Our current front office has proven they can't draft oline to save their lives.

OK, I'll admit that's funny. I've never seen that happen to that extent. Maybe he is color blind. I assume that he was looking past the player he was blocking to see what was going on, but I need to see the beginning of the play to understand how they got in that situation in the first place.

They have generally done well when they draft players they specifically worked out and studied in detail. I remember that Callahan personally went to work out Fred. Fred even commented that he learned some things just from that one workout.

It has been the players they didn't have contract with prior to the draft that has been a problem. They didn't have any contact with Claiborne prior to drafting him. They probably assumed they wouldn't have the opportunity to draft him and it cost them in a big way.

Everyone they drafted they brought in until Gibson in the 7th I think. They are just staying true to their board, which is smart.

All it takes is for one team above you to have a similar draft grade on a prospect and you lose him. Better a round early than a pick late.

I like it. Obviously they can't bring in every possible pick, so I don't expect them to have contract with the late round guys.

In regards to taking the player that your really sold on even if it seems a little early, Max Unger is the ultimate example. He was by far their top choice back in 2009 but he was drafted a couple of picks before theirs. In retrospect, they could have traded all of their 12 picks that year to move up and pick him way early and still would have had a much better than their actual draft.
