Twitter: Gil Brandt with another Jaylon Smith update

My honest to God fervent hope is that Jerry got this information from the surgeon specialist that handles the case. Otherwise, If it's just a figment of Jerry's overactive imagination, via Blue Label Johnny Walker, then fuggetaboutit. As much as I'd love to believe it, I'll await some further info before getting my hopes up too much. I'll admit, it does sound good, though. :)

It doesn't take a doctor to realize that a nerve is firing. If he can flex the peroneal it is what it is.

What, nobody can take a joke anymore? I love Jerry like a fat kid loves cake. Oh wait, now I hurt someone's feelings.

Your joke at best is played out and just because it was intended as a joke doesn't mean that it doesn't have a point. I spoke to said premise.

I get that you want to be able to make digs, label them as jokes, and expect that it means there is no valid response but that is just not the case. Frankly your hackneyed attempt makes sense when someone is making a prognosis. Jones is simply telling you how it is.

Not sure if I'd want him to get his first NFL action in the playoffs, to be honest.
Yea I've got to believe they would be super cautious with whatever role he played if he makes it back.
I can't see him running down on special teams or chasing Julian Edelman types across the middle.
All speculation, but maybe a situational pass rusher?
That's what I think they are hoping for.

Why would he need a surgeon to tell him that Jaylon can flex his peroneal and lift the foot on his own?

Seriously, this is not internal medicine we are talking about here.

Jaylon s like a ... God!
We await with bated breathe any and all news concerning god's gift to football!

Well, If I knew what the heck a peroneal was and if he could flex it, I suppose I'd be doing cartwheels. Since I don't, I won't! ;)

Jerry having Gil Brandt carry his water on on something like this is a little odd to me. That is the kind of thing Jerry would normally race to a microphone to report.

What similar case can you mention where he ran to the mic to report it setting said norm?

Dr Jerry is never right but even if he is right then there is a long long long process between the nerves firing and him playing NFL football.

It wouldn't be. In a week we will know if he is ready to start doing some stuff or going on IR. If he is ready to start doing some stuff he has plenty of time to get some reps before playoffs. But what's really important is next season and if he is healthy by playoffs he will be able to fully participate in off season program and be ready for ota's

Did we ever get a firm answer on when he has to start practicing before formally ending his season?

it could be the best draft of all time (or top 3) depending on Jaylon.
franchise QB in his first year
franchise RB who may be MVP
potential generational MLB/WLB who runs a 4.4

in addition to starting DT,
possible starting CB.
hopes for a 290lb TE who can catch and run,
along with SS, RB yet to be seen on the field
as well as a super fast (4.59) big DE who may or may not ever recover from back issue
When we get a few of them in the hof then it might be in the running.

Liberal, Internet bully. Enjoy yourself fuzzy. You're nothing to me. I clearly stated that I hoped he was right.
Life is too short to go through with your level of seriousness. Oh, and suckling on your mama's teet doesn't count, lumpkins.

Did you just call Fuzzy a "liberal internet bully" <looks at post again>

Yup, you did. Back off Fuzzy bro. And yeah, he doesn't need my help lambasting you, but guess what, he gets it.

Why do we think Jaylon...a rookie...is going to give us much if he were to come back in the playoffs? This is great news for the future....and it wouldn't be unprecedented for a rookie to be great out of the gate....but he's had so little real practice (yet alone game time) over the course of the last year...and he's jumping into the playoffs?

Here's to hoping..

Because he was a blue chip player coming out. If we can get this guy in by week 12 and slowly ease him in that would be great. I want this team as healthy as possible for the playoffs. Besides reps now are reps learn for next year.
