What people fail to understand about Romo is how much TIME he put into his craft in every offseason. He just didn't magically go from undrafted to All Pro. He put in serious work, everyday.

What work has Vaughn put in? Maybe a lot, maybe as much as Romo, but the proof is in the pudding. Romo looked bad a few times his 2nd camp, but he never looked as bad as Vaughn.

It wouldn't shock me if we kept showers as the 3rd QB
He is far from ready to play but so is Vaughn
But he looks as good as Vaughn to me right now and this is his first camp
He also helps you on special teams and if you get to a situation where you need the 3rd QB I suspect they would go out and find a vet and you likely have nothing left to play for at that point
Not sure what they will do but I bet that conversation is going on with the staff

Showers took the team down the field in the 4th qtr and got a touchdown. Showers connected to Swaim on some good passes, and looked much better than Vaughn !!!!

Austin Davis was a restricted free agent with no compensation and got no offers. Offering a mid round pick is insane.

Austin Davis is better and younger than Weeden. He has similar qualities to Romo and just needs to be given the opportunity. I don't know what the Cowboys see in Weeden. Frankly he sucks. If I were the Cowboys I would try and get Austin Davis here whether is trading for him or some other means. Insane is trying to make Weeden into a legit backup QB. He is not. If you a better suggestion then I'm all ears.

I would be happy with Showers as the 3rd string QB.

To me if they aren't at least considering it they wouldn't have had him on special teams
If you get to your 3rd QB your season is probably done and if the first two go down you are going out and sign a vet so he isn't likely to be playing QB much if any
It's about who has the most potential but one could argue getting special teams play out of your 3rd QB is nice

Dallas will stay with the 2 they have which is a mistake if Romo has to miss a game or 2.
Also a good backup would mean that if they play a team like jacksonville or chicago last year, play the bkup and give tony a game

Considering the Boys OL is light years better than the Rams OL, I'm guessing he can't do worse than what Davis will be seeing from defenses.

I think that Showers can do a lot of things, special teams, 3rd string QB, and be a 3rd and 1 QB , enough to keep him on the team.
