Give me Showers!

Among the three backups, only Showers showed composure. I know that the second & third string O-line is a freaking mess right now, & all 3 QBs were under continuous pressure, but only Showers showed courage under fire. That is the most important thing for that position. If you don't have that, it doesn't matter how much talent you have, you're going to crack. I want to see how well Showers, & also Gus Johnson, play with the first/second team offense. Both played better than any of their counterparts.

Not all. If there was one backup I would trade for it would be Austin Davis. Plays similar to Romo and even wears #9 for the Rams. I would dangle a 3rd for him to see if the Rams bite.

Are you joking? Austin Davis is their #4 qb. They drafted Mannion to be the 3rd with Foles & Keenum. He will hit waivers soon enough. Who knows if they are even interested. Weeden seems to have pics.

I agree on the composure bit. I really question his decision on some throws. He could have easily thrown 4 picks. I have not given up on Gus yet either. He looked good blocking and thick enough to run between the tackles and move the pile some.

A 3rd-round pick to secure a backup QB? Maybe if Romo was on his death bed with the plague.

Correction - a good backup QB with the possibility of starting one day. A 3rd rounder is worth it since we will be given a few next year from losing several players in FA.

Thats why I think they would be open for a trade. If not a 3rd then maybe even a 5th rounder. Austin is better and younger than Weeden and has similar qualities to Romo. He just need proper coaching.

I agree that all backup QB's suck, the problem is finding one that is less sucky and and might keep you in a game or two if called upon. I do not believe we have such a QB on our roster.

Nor does anyone else, aside from a team or two.

I'm not a fan of any of the backup QB's we have. ....but I'd certainly take Weeden over Showers and Vaughan.

It looks like a keep only two QB's kind of year.

Experience - Weeden
Arm Strength - maybe Showers
Mobility - Showers
Pocker Awareness -Weeden/Showers (take your pick)

interesting debate but i think the question is, out of the 3 who "could be" your QB of the future? who has the most upside?

Weeden will be 32 in Oct
Showers 25 in Sept.
Vaughan 24 this last Jan.

Weeden is what Weeden is
Showers looks calm and confident
Vaughan look like the rookie out there.

What people fail to understand about Romo is how much TIME he put into his craft in every offseason. He just didn't magically go from undrafted to All Pro. He put in serious work, everyday.

What work has Vaughn put in? Maybe a lot, maybe as much as Romo, but the proof is in the pudding. Romo looked bad a few times his 2nd camp, but he never looked as bad as Vaughn.

I'm hoping that the backup QB and starting RB are not currently on the roster and only one requires giving up a draft pick to get. The other will hopefully be a waiver pickup or traded for with a player we were going to cut anyway.
