Top 5 in order, and why.

Bottom 5 in order, and why.

Top 5 for me.

1. Indianapolis Colts. Beat a very good New Orleans team handily, showed strong defense. Are the defending champs.

2. New England Patriots. Beat a very good New York Jets team. Videotaping or no, they are good.

3. San Diego Chargers. Beat a very good Chicago Bears team and didn't allow them a TD. Might be higher on my list if Rivers had played well.

4. Dallas Cowboys. I think the Giants are better than many think, but not elite. The Cowboys Offense looked like it could run or pass at will. Expect the defense to get better soon. Especially once Ellis and Newman return and Burnett is healthier.

5. Cincinnati Bengals. Surprised me by beating a very tough Baltimore team and did with Marvin Lewis' signature...defense. In truth they shocked me a bit how well they played. Had to give them respect for it.

Bottom 5 for me.

32. Cleveland Browns. How do you switch QBs that soon into the season, then trade your starter? Oh yeah, you decide he's the starter by a coin flip. They don't know what they are doing. It shows.

31. Atlanta Falcons. It is going to be a long, brutal season aimed at getting Brian Brohm in the Draft.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. WRs are aging. RBs are beat up. Trying to figure out how to play 11 QBs at a time. Defense is aging. they look pitiful to me.

29. Kansas City Chiefs. Huard and Croyle? No defense. Aging RB who has been overworked. No WRs to speak of. Beta up OL.

28. Miami Dolphins. I have a feeling this team is going to have new coach struggles. He saw a shiny new whistle in Tedd Ginn Jr., took him at #9, and now can't figure out how to use him. Trent Green was the answer? What was the question? Last week may be a highlight game for them.

You can't be serious. He'll be a good QB, but anybody needs at least SOME talent around them. And your forgetting that he's a rookie apparently

For the short term I'd put Pittsburgh at 4 for pounding a bad team as it should, and Dallas at 5 based on the defense struggles, though the offense was spectacular. I expect the Boys to climb over the next couple of weeks if it's really just adjustments on the D.

I'll put the anointing oil on hold for Cincinatti as Baltimore still ran up 20 and does not have a stellar offense. Kudos to the Bengals on the turnover ratio, though.

I was optomistic of the domer....

But with K2 and Braylon Edwards? Those are upgrades from Smarzdija, Rhema and J. Carlson.

1. Indy
2. New England
3. San Diego
4. Carolina - simply because they're good every other year, and this is one of those years
5. Pittsburgh

I can't put Dallas in the top 5 because I don't know for sure if the defense will get better.

I can't see Chicago as a top 5 team. Benson does not look capable of being the feature back. I have a feeling that Grossman will still have the few really bad games, but won't balance those out with the really good games like last year. Each game and each mistake seems to chip away at his confidence. That Bears defense is good, but they lost two key players already. It is still a good team and maybe #6 in the league. Dallas at #5.

The rest of your list looks good. I would consider Oakland and Miami to replace Washington at the bottom.

1. Colts- Until someone defeats the champs, they'll continue to be number 1.

2. Patriots- The addition of Randy Moss was a good thing.

3. Chargers- LT will have to carry that team once again. Merriman without the drugs doesn't look at that impressive..

4. Cowboys- The offense will have to carry this defense until Newman is back!

5. Bengals- Offense is one of the best..

Same for me, can't be a homer yet and put Dallas in an initial Top 5 based on how the defense looked...Even Houston deserves top 5 over Dallas at this point, but it is only Week 1 so no biggie.

My Top 5

1. Indianapolis
2. New England
3. Pittsburgh
4. Cincinnatti
5. Minny or SD

My Bottom 5

1. Cleveland
2. Atlanta
3. Tampa
4. KC
5. Oakland

Mccordsville come on dude this aint Notre Dame.

Im as big of a Brady Quinn supporter as you'll find and think he will be very good but rookie QB's just dont have a lot of success in this league. Especially enough to overcome all of Celvelands problems.

They have a Rookie LT, Rookie Corner, and eventually a Rookie QB. Regardless of how talented they are that is a recipe for disaster because those are arguably the 3 most important positions on the football field.

My fives.

Top Five:

1. Indianapolis Colts - Until proven otherwise they are the Champs and they are playing rather well.

2. New England Cheaters - They are very talented and they cheat. Very difficult to overcome.

3. San Diego Chargers - I like Rivers but he is no Manning, Brady or even Romo yet. If he was...

4. Cinncinnati Bengals - The AFC is better than the NFC and Cinncinnati is a good team.

5. Dallas Cowboys - Why not? New Orleans defense was bad with the potential to be worse. Dallas defense was bad with potential to be good.

Bottom Five:

32. Cleveland Browns - Easily. Not sure why some people thought they had a "chance to be good"? Inept players + inept coaching equals inept results.

31. Kansas City Chiefs - Not so sure what Houston was so excited about. They could still the #1 pick from Dallas.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - You know you are bad when you are starting a has been at QB in what should be a rebuilding year.

29. Atlanta Falcons - They will be rebuilding for the next few years.

28. Oakland Raiders - Not much has changed since last year other than getting rid of the bed and breakfast guy.

Top 5 QBs:

1. Manning - No explanation necessary.

2. Brady - Has a top flight WR for the first time.

3. Palmer - Only thing missing is Big Game skins on the wall.

4. Brees - Was a top 5 QB last year...should not fall off that list because of one game.

4. Romo - Show me someone else consistently playing better.

Bottom 5 QBs:

32. Harrington - He is starting, but we all know he is not the answer.

31. Jackson - Another guy just holding down the fort for a while.

30. Huard - Another team that should be rebuilding playing an old never has been at QB. I do not get it.

29. McCown - Had a good game statistically last week, but I still do not think he is a NFL QB. We will see.

28. Tie Campbell, Grossman, Losman, Smith - All are a minimum of third year players who have done little to date. All these guys need to demonstrate something to keep their job secure for the future. Interestingly enough they all had sub 60 QB rating days last week.

Omitted: Derek Anderson - He will not be the starter for more than a few weeks.

Sorry Hos, but IMO there is no good argue ment to be made for Dallas being a top 5 team. We can't score 45 point sagainst real NFL defenses, and we will face much better offenses than the one we saw in New York. Unless we shore up the defense, we won't be making the postseason

You've got Houston in the bottom 5, lower than even Tampa?...A team that actually won and looked good doing it and spanked Dallas in preseason?

I agree pre-season does not mean a thing. However I do think Houston will have a decent team and I think a big reason will be the play of Matt Schaub
