Well, now that you put it that way...touche.

thats not what he asked. he said would u be impressed if they would have hired phillips?

If the division rivals are scared of this than they are obviously impressed.

Me, personally, I wouldnt because the Skins, Giants, and Eagles dont run the 3-4.

IF they ran the 3-4, HELL YES I'd be impressed.

Not sure what else you add either.

The guy is contradicting himself. I was just pointing that out.
And? You are the one that needs to set the guy straight?

What other coach out there would the Gmen, Eagles, or Skins hired that we would have been impressed by?

Case closed.

But your ENTIRE arguement is based on history.

At least Wade Phillips knows the 3-4 defense and can improve it which is what was needed.

Our offensive scoring was one of the tops in the league.

Your evidence for saying that Phillips knows the 3-4 is his history running it.

My evidence for saying he's mediocre when he becomes head coach is his history failing at it.

I agree that Phillips is a great coordinator.

But don't tell me I can't look at his track record when trying to ascertain how he'll pan out as a HC. That's what everyone is doing... looking at his history as a coordinator, and projecting it to his ability as a HC.

Ok well we'll see how you feel about our defense after 1 season under Phillips.

You might just be singing a different tune.

Out of curiosity, who would you have hired as HC?

the truth, none of the coaches available were impressive. all have questions in their abilities. i guess next yr will be another yr of hope and dreams that will never materialize into reality. one can only hope for 08. fisher come on down. lovie dont sign that extension. take the layaway plan in chicago and go back home to dallas.

i will never sing any tune other then the 3-4 needs to get lost. i've said that from the time parcells was hired, back in the days of the espn board. when he said he had no intensions of changing the cowboys into a 3-4 team. to him saying that he was in this for the long run. that he wouldnt stop until dallas was a winner. i didnt believe him then, and people criticized me for it. look at who is eating crow now. if im wrong so be it. but i wont switch on a bandwagon just to prove im wrong. if he fixes the defense good for him but ill be happy for the cowboys not him. same would have been for norv. i dont care who the coach is. i love the cowboys not the coach. so if ur expecting me to say something different then what im saying now, dont hold ur breath.

I'm not going to get suckered into that trap.

You want me to name a name so that you can, "But how do you know he's better than Wade Phillips."

I'm not biting, because that's specious reasoning.

There were better alternatives if you looked hard enough for them.

For some reason, the pool that Jerry came up with did not seem to contain any. If there was one, it would have been Rivera or perhaps Garrett himself.

But that isn't to say that there aren't better candidates out there. There certainly are.

Lovie Smith's or Andy Reid's certainly exist. You just have to find them.

if ur trying to say im a believer of espn, read some posts. i dont read anything they have to say with any realism. it was just a msg board that i spoke cowboys with, along with alot of members here and other boards.

now if u dont like what im typing dont read it. if u cant come up with something to debate then dont post it. nevermind ill just use the ignore button. ha! goodbye

I know you are Anti 3-4 but JJ wants to keep it obviously.

So thats why 2 and 3 were crossed off.

You will get your wish in Garret in a couple maybe 3 years.

Sorry its not sooner.

It's like listening to mock drafts in January. Nobody has a clue how it's going to shake out come September. After 4 years of Parcell's, a fresh approach with a younger coaching staff and a talented underachieving team can be a recipe for success even with mediocre coaching.

I think Wade is a competent guy who has the respect of the players in the league. If he just upgrades the pass rush, FS and RG he could probably squeeze out four more wins.

Wade will win with this team...everyone should know that the defense is going to be vastly improved, and thats good by itself for at least another win or two...no more of QB's standing back there for 10-12 seconds at a time without getting touched..no more of dropping 7-8 guys into coverage and still seeing guys WIDE FREAKING OPEN 15-20 yds downfield...the defense will be good

offensively, there's definitely going to be some questions till after we see how Garrett runs things...we have the tools to be good, but we could use some upgrades here and there along the OL...if the OL gets better we should be fine

if wade doesnt do something remarakable this yr he wont be back next yr. believe that. that would have been for any coach hired this yr.
