Giving up if we lose to Panthers?

This is obviously meant for those who haven't already given up on the season. Do you pack any playoff hopes if Dallas loses?

I won't be able to because I believe it would be still possible for Dallas to win the East, even though it would take some things falling in place.

Obviously, we'd need to win the rest of our games. (I don't see us being able to win the division at 7-9, so 8-8 is likely needed)

The Giants would need to lose three games, which I expect them to do anyway, but at least one of those losses would need to be to either Washington or Philly. Ideally, it would be to Washington (because we might need Philly to lose to New York).

Beating Washington twice would be enough to give us the division over them.

Philly also would need to lose at least twice. If the Eagles lose only two of their remaining games (I think they'll lose more) then one of those losses has to be to the Giants.

Better division record with every team at 8-8 gives us the division.

I think we're gonna win this game But even if we don't I still am not writing is out of the playoffs. As long as this is the only loss we take. If we drop Panthers and another game then I think we will be out of it

It all depends on the division. I personally think the Giants win 9 games minimum. But who knows, they might start losing too. Maybe 8-8 wins it. I'm just riding it out. Expecting and preparing for next year yet dreaming and praying for a playoff spot. Either way emotionally I'm ready :)

I don't believe the Cowboys will win this game, but this is the only game they can drop if they even want to dream about the playoffs.

Don't think so -- in order to get that building momentum, they're going to have to string wins together. If they lose tomorrow, they're just treading water again. I don't think the team will find the will/confidence to make a run at a 5-game streak directly after that. So, maybe they'll be alive from a mathematical standpoint, but not from a psychological standpoint. They lose tomorrow, the dream is over and the Giants will skate to the easiest division title in years.

So tomorrow is kind of important.

You think the 5-5, worst defense in the NFL, Giants are going to go minimum of 4-2 with Carolina, Minnesota, NYJ, and 2 division games on their schedule?

The odds are already super slim and would just get worse.
But theoretically, they can possibly handle one loss as long as it's not in the division.

I'm not down playing tomorrow's game, I also believe that if they lose tomorrow they're done, but mathematically will be alive because I think the division winner will be 8-8.

The playoffs started for Dallas with the Miami game. I think we need to get to 9-7 and win out, to hold any tie breakers. Or the rest of the teams in the East really need to implode, if it's an 8-8 type deal.
We have 2 games against the Commanders.
Giants play Commanders and Eagles
Eagles play Commanders and giants
Commanders play Giants, Eagles, and Cowboys twice.

There will need to be some losses by them to other teams, while we keep winning.
If we are to lose a game, it best be against the Bills or Jets. To finish 8-8, but the other 3 NFCE teams better lose a lot more.

I think energy is better spent enjoying this game as a single-elimination playoff game, rather than spinning wheels about the ifs and whats that might or might not happen around the league. My two cents -- we get to potentially enjoy 10+ weeks of playoff football, starting with tomorrow's HUGE playoff game against an undefeated team. As of right now...this moment...who is luckier than us? Why detract from any of that enjoyment by trying to project the unprojectable?

If we lose, it is over. 8-8 will not win the division considering tie-breakers, especially if 3 teams are involved. If we can't beat the Panthers(at home), I have no reason to believe that they can beat GB, Buffalo or maybe even the Jets. Still have Wash twice and those won't be easy regardless. Another loss to an NFC team is no bueno :(

That's an interesting take. I like it.

I don't care about making the playoffs if we're not good enough to win the Super Bowl. I'd rather get the #1 overall pick than get outmatched in the playoffs. So I think tomorrow will be a real glimpse at whether we're a legit Super Bowl contender. No better team to play to show we're a legit team than the 10-0 Panthers.

Pretty much the way I look at it too.
If we expect to beat GB, we best start beating the Panthers at home. These seem to be the 2 toughest games. But going into Buffalo will not be easy. They are an up and down team, fighting for a playoff spot too.
Commanders are never easy games, or should not be looked upon as easy.

To me, for Dallas to have a shot at this Phoenix-like rise from the Romo injury ashes, they need to win the next three games.

Any falter, any stumble, and the season is on life support. One could make an argument the Giants can cave. And Philly is circling the drain. But the aspect known as reality - not the site owner - still stares this franchise in the face.

8-8 will not win this division, and not winning the division, the season is over.

Come big, Cowboys, or stay at home.

Now there will be some who suggest this is a loser's mentality. Others will profess i don't have a crystal ball, nor do i know the future.

But if the doctor tells you they have discovered a serious disease in your body, no matter how positive you are, at some point you need to assess the downside of that discovery.

Lose one and the season is over.

Carolina
@washington
@Green Bay
New York Jets
@Buffalo

Win. Win against an undefeated. On a short week, Then win on the road for all of the five games left but one.

Even the most positive of this board has to agree that is asking more than is most likely possible from a wounded team with no identity and no chemistry.

Obviously if we fall 3 games behind the Giants with 5 to play it is over, so I will let you know after Sunday if we lose tomorrow. If we win tomorrow the Giants are going to feel the pressure real quick and the Commanders might do us a favor
