Giving up if we lose to Panthers?

Can still win the division at 8-8

It all depends on the division. I personally think the Giants win 9 games minimum. But who knows, they might start losing too. Maybe 8-8 wins it. I'm just riding it out. Expecting and preparing for next year yet dreaming and praying for a playoff spot. Either way emotionally I'm ready :)

The Giants havent won vs a good team yet.I will say that it that the ball seems to bounce to their side a lot this season .

We won't pack it in from trying to win if we lose to CAR, but it effectively makes the playoffs impossible.

Just goes to show how blowing these critical 4th quarter leads in the Weeden/Cassel era comes back to haunt you.

It's possible the Giants can loose. But the team should focus on this game and we can worry about what will happen next.

I think the Giants have had some of the worst of luck this season. They choked away the 1st game to us, they choked away the Falcons game, the Saints game, and Patriots game. Everyone of those games, they basically just gave the game away. The only game that they were clearly out played was against the Eagles.

Losing all of those winnable games to potential conference wildcard opponents probably leaves us with only one avenue to the playoffs - the division title.

It's hard to imagine that the improving Giants (JPP), a team that nearly defeated the best team in football last week, is going to lose 3 out of 6 given their easy schedule.

We have to win tomorrow.

When we're behind the 8-ball, I always just float with the percentages. Each loss is a body-blow. But we're not out until we're eliminated.

If we lose to the Panthers, though, it significantly diminishes my hopes for the season, regardless. Sure, we can get 'hotter' (I put that in caps because we're running a 1-game winning streak) late in the season, but if we're not at a point where we can beat a heavyweight in week 11, I'm not sure how much it matters if we make it into the post season. Things need to start going our way, and that pretty much needs to happen starting now.

Unless Tony just plays out of his head (which he's capable of doing), this game looks like a loss to me, anyway. They're beatable, but it's going to take the whole team playing well around Tony, and then Tony being better than Cam. So far this season, we haven't seen what I'd consider a whole game yet. MIA was as close as we've come, which is the good news.

If we do win, though, I think we're going to start building some real momentum, fast.

I won't give up on the playoffs until we are eliminated from them. I realize how hard it will be to get there this year but no sense in packing it in until we eliminated completely.

I agree, after the eagles losing 2 in a row and in disarray, and skins getting beat bad by tampa, it depends on what the giants do.
It is a big task to beat Carolina, but the Cowboys need to show they can play at that level.
It also depends on if they lose badly, or play good and lose.

Even if they beat Carolina they have a long way to go and each game will be tough.

But no reason to give up till they are totally eliminated.

not a chance. if Eli ever went down (like Romo or Bradford) 8-8 or 7-9 will do it.

This is obviously meant for those who haven't already given up on the season. Do you pack any playoff hopes if Dallas loses?

I won't be able to because I believe it would be still possible for Dallas to win the East, even though it would take some things falling in place.

Obviously, we'd need to win the rest of our games. (I don't see us being able to win the division at 7-9, so 8-8 is likely needed)

The Giants would need to lose three games, which I expect them to do anyway, but at least one of those losses would need to be to either Washington or Philly. Ideally, it would be to Washington (because we might need Philly to lose to New York).

Beating Washington twice would be enough to give us the division over them.

Philly also would need to lose at least twice. If the Eagles lose only two of their remaining games (I think they'll lose more) then one of those losses has to be to the Giants.

Better division record with every team at 8-8 gives us the division.

Not til math says it's impossible, not this year. Too many extenuating circumstances.

I guess that's the main reason for faith. If the Giants were 8-2 right now, I don't think any of us would believe it's practical for them to go 1-5 or 0-6. The Giants are average and Philly and Washington are below average this year.

I believe the games Romo has played in have shown we're not an average team, which is why I believe there's a chance even if we stumble against 10-0 Carolina.

I gave up when Romo broke his collarbone. I just want to watch them win a few here and there. In particular, the Bills game as I know two Bills' fans who love to yap about how the Cowboys suck.

You think the 5-5, worst defense in the NFL, Giants are going to go minimum of 4-2 with Carolina, Minnesota, NYJ, and 2 division games on their schedule?

Worse defense and they seem to lock it down from time to time. Disgusts me.

Hoping Giants go 2-4

We win division 9-7 or 8-8

The Cowboys can possibly lose one more game and still be mathematically alive for the playoffs. Now whether that loss is too the Panthers or Packers or whomever... it can only happen once.

Not in this division. 8-8 will win it. Midgets scare me but they have the toughest schedule, I see at least 3 losses there.

Considering they should have beaten NE, yes.

The problem is that everyone in the division has a better record than us, and the divisional games are starting to ramp up, which means that every divisional game between our rivals will help us against one team, but hurt us against the other. The worst case scenario for us is probably a divisional game between rivals that results in a TIE.

We still have a chance at winning the division, but to really give us a viable shot at winning it, we need a win on Thanksgiving, coupled with a Giants loss this weekend.

If we lose on Thursday and the Giants win this weekend, then its not OVER, per se, but the fat lady can start warming up to sing.

Win out is the only real way to make the POs. That would be 11 straight wins to win the SB. One more loss and pack tony and dez up for next season IMO.
