Jalen Phillips or Bradley Chubb could be had for a 4th or 5th. Chubb comes with a $20M cap hit in each of 26 & 27, but under contract. Phillips is a FA at the end of the year.

Wonder what the D would look like with Sam Williams on the bench and one of the above guys of the field.

Would love to see Bradley Chubb with the boys. How about Sam Williams and a 5th for Chubb.

You need 3 defensive difference makers, one on each level. I don't trust this FO to identify 3 and make a trade without getting fleeced. Again, you do this stuff in the offseason, not half way thru the regular season.

There is no one Super Hero to save and or fix this defense. We need 4 good players. Not 1 superstar.

you don't need that much to contend this year to get the defense ranked 15-20. one pass rusher DE, one top LB and a safety or CB and you are good enough.

Our safeties on their best days are mediocre
Our LBs.... Less said the better
DL: We got a young guy in EZE and an old guy in Clowney
and OSA who is way overpaid. Clark is clearly on the downside of his career. We need a true NT that can clog the middle and a DE that can play both run and rush the passer
So by that count we need AT LEAST 6 new better guys to be respectable
and 9 to be a D that could do what it took to win a Championship

Problem is Booger will be counting on Overshown to be the difference maker the minute he steps on the field. And maybe he will be but coming off the injury he had most rational people would expect less this year. Plus we HAD a difference maker and Booger sent him to a rival.

Probably true. This year will be about him getting mentally, and physically ready for next year. Expecting the same player day one is not rational

Quinnen Williams would probably take two 1sts himself

And he makes 57 mil over next 2 years. He alone without any other player is a huge cap cost for a late season run. And his contract would make it really hard to keep Pickens past this year

Love how you are only bringing up the D when he was hurt last year.

Now bring up the 2024 offense since it stays the same.

I agree. I’m not opposed to a trade but anyone you could get that helps you this year, hurts you next year. An impact defender is either already paid big or about to get paid big which means 2 of your offensive weapons who are a big part of the offense you couldn’t keep past this year. Even without a trade I’m not sure we can keep Pickens and Williams. With a trade you know you can’t
