2017 could be our season but may need to sacrifice 2018 draft to truly contend right now:

-2018 1st Rounder and Tank Lawrence for JJ Watt OR Jadaveon Clowney (Texans can't pay two D players max QB money AND pay Deandre Hopkins too)

-2018 2nd Rounder for Joe Thomas (keep Lael at LG, make OL beyond dominant)

-2018 4th Rounder and Ty Crawford for Shelden Richardson

-Orlando Scandrick, Brice Butler and Alfred Morris for Josh Gordon, Ty Holmes & 2018 6th Rounder

-Bring back Demarcus Ware from retirement as situational pass rusher, player-coach

You wanna swap all but the #3 in next years draft?( maybe #5, I had to start swimming fast to escape the undertows vortex) what if the Texans wanted more than what we offered?
If it did gel it would be pretty good but! Let's play this hand out awhile longer before pushing it" all in",, I don't wanna be wiped out and haft'a pick up somebody else's beer cans.

Or plays too much Madden.

LOL. You probably weren't around for the Jimmy years. Let alone Landry. They both were always churning the roster top to bottom, even Parcells who is more known to churn mid-bottom.

Yep. Cowboys would have only mid to low round picks next years draft (don't forget the extra compensatory 4th, 5th, two 6th's).

And if Texans could request more, but that's what negotiating is for. Loss of 1st and 2nd in 2018 draft will not wipe out Cowboys.

Especially not if Cowboys receive Watt/Clowney, Thomas and possibly Gordon in return.

I'm grooving on the madness of your method!
Problems: if certain players know they got a lock at their position for pretty much two years ? They gonna coast!
F.o. plays it to close to the vest and seem anemic at the negotiating table (-0 draw for #9)
What's the price in $ signing that dream team gonna do to this budgeted/ projected salary cap?
Pretty ambitious if nothing else,bro!

Can't win big if don't risk big. Nothing great is accomplished by sitting on your ace and laughing at the guy hustling and trying new things.

I am sorry I must have missed those years that Jimmy, Landry, or Parcells (for that matter) traded away 1/2 our next draft.

You must not have been around for those years either because there is a rather large difference between churning the bottom of the roster (something all the above did do) and what you are proposing in your OP (something none of the above ever did).

Kinda have to agree with DC on this one, there is nothing similar about what your OP says and the history of any of the men you mentioned.
