Going All In

Question. If it is lazy sheep think, why haven't any of the 32 NFL front offices used such transactions to "go all in"?

Do you recall when Jimmy used to move up and down in the draft, trading vets for future picks and even creating a draft value system? Or when Landry/Schramm created those weird formations like the Flex, the shotgun, OL shift, etc. and tracked and graded players by their measurables?

None of the front offices were doing all those things at the time either.

Nice story, but same question: why have none of the 32 front offices done as you suggested? The closest was Ditka trading his entire draft for a RB. That is a textbook example on why you don't do as you say.

Not a story, it's HISTORY. It happened. Just because everyone does it one way doesn't make it the only way, or even the best way.

Trading your entire draft for a single player is not even close to what I proposed.

When we had Tony I would have been more amenable to going all in but not now.

By the way doubters of all in, what do you call what Elway did recently? Got a Lombardi didn't he?

The Bronco's went "all in" by hitting on some key draft picks (picks that weren't traded away) and by signing key components who had been released by their clubs in Manning and Ware.

They didn't gut drafts to go "all in".

respectfully no and ill give my reason why.

We are past that time, we have commited (dare i say about time) to a good plan, with hopefully a good vision. Lets be honest, we dont need any vets right now because they might be hired guns for 1 year and even than its not needed because i dont want Dallas to go for a good record with nothing to show for it. Id rather they just play, let the chips fall where they may but on the field, we se the players get better we see them mature and we see improvement. I will take that and a 2-14 season over a 10-6 season and some players arent getting it.

If Garrett sees something and goes for it later in the season, fine, at least he tried, but if he takes this season and lays down a good foundation, i ll give him a free season because whats the worst that happens we dont win the SB again, fine ill take the trade off and wait 1 season for a great foundation and that is something we are looking at and we have not seen that in a long time. This is the season to do it right and im hoping the Cowboys stick to that plan.

Entertaining (truly) and yet, BAT-*** crazy. The team has been building upon their recent drafts...giving away the 2018 draft would stick a fork in that process and force them to start over...there are no guarantees with the guys that you are suggesting (although I would lose my mind to see that WATT donning the star on his helmet); I, for one, am not a fan of Gordon
also, I would say that they won't know if they are one or two players away until we see what the kiddie-corps can do on defense; if they all perform well, THEN maybe you go and find your Charles Haley somewhere

It's a story, not because it isn't true, but because you are hiding behind it. You still haven't answered the question: why haven't any of the 32 NFL front offices used such transactions to "go all in"?

2017 could be our season but may need to sacrifice 2018 draft to truly contend right now:

-2018 1st Rounder and Tank Lawrence for JJ Watt OR Jadaveon Clowney (Texans can't pay two D players max QB money AND pay Deandre Hopkins too)

-2018 2nd Rounder for Joe Thomas (keep Lael at LG, make OL beyond dominant)

-2018 4th Rounder and Ty Crawford for Shelden Richardson

-Orlando Scandrick, Brice Butler and Alfred Morris for Josh Gordon, Ty Holmes & 2018 6th Rounder

-Bring back Demarcus Ware from retirement as situational pass rusher, player-coach
