Going forward w/ Romo

Over the years, Romo's had guys Wide open deep, and has definently missed em more than ur average elite qb. Stats are overrated, and never tell the whole story.

I agree with most of you, romo is good enough to win, doesn't mean he isnt flawless... I believe a few months in the weight room would do him wonders. And a better line might help. The only thing other than that I can truly question, is his confidence and what might happen if he DID make it to the big game.

Please post either a link to split-by-distance C% of all elite QBs, showing Romo below average in the "deep" bracket, or a retraction. Thanks.

Dude....no arc? If you can throw the ball 50 yards with no arc, that means you have to throw it harder. Know about physics?
Regarless in that situation, his balls barley crossed the plain.

I'd still like to see a link to back up this information.. but i'll take your word for it.

These numbers are pretty good for balls going that far in the air.. although im sure having good receivers who can adjust to balls in the air plays somewhat of a part in that as well. Very rarely did i see Romo hit one of our guys deep down the field in stride. Maybe one or two times all year?

you DO know that you need more than a couple of seconds for WRs to get more then 20-30 yds downfield, right?

When does Romo have that kind of time?

you have been shown links and stats but DON'T WANT TO ADMIT YOU ARE WRONG.

Simple as that.

Arm strength isn't the issue.. at least it shouldn't be.

Bench, squat, and deadlift 500 pounds and get back to me...

I'd like to see his completion % for balls thrown more than, let's say 25 yards +. Anyone?

Some of you nut huggers are class acts. Romo cant do any wrong in some of ur eyes. I've watched almost all of Romo's televised games (streamed quite a few too) And to say he has a bad deep ball is not far fetched at all.

Big deal. Airman had the worst deep ball ever thrown. And that's just not my opinion.

Why? We don't have to talk about everything present.

maybe not, but attempts at intelligent posts would be most welcome.

You are correct, Moose said in a pre-game the coaches tried to coax Romo to throw deep, but his accuracy is just not there. There was a guy a while back who was posting a graph of where Romo's passes traveled (through the air), it was obvious dink and dunk with huge RAC to prop up his stats.. Romo is great at what he does, throws within 15 yds. Can he get us to the Super Bowl, likely, but his (physical) time is running out and defenses are adjusting.

What is an "average elite qb"? Is it average or elite? Can it be both?

The information on deep balls (how far the pass travels in the air, broken down into short, intermediate, and deep passes) is readily available to anyone. Just google "romo splits espn," then scroll down to "By Pass Play."

You can take that information and compare it to any other QB by googling that QB's name, splits, etc. Here's how Romo's deep ball compared to the deep balls thrown by the two SB quarterbacks, for example.

Passes that traveled more than 30 yards in the air
Romo 9 of 18 50% 441 yds 5TD 0INT 135.4 rating
Eli 11 of 35 31.4% 624 yds 3TD 1INT 97.0 rating
Brady 1 of 15 6.7% 46 yds 0TD 0INT 39.9 rating

These stats vary depending on the service (si.com's are a little different) because one scorer might see a pass going 29 yards while the other sees it going 30, but the end results aren't that different.

Unless two different stats services are both completely wrong, Romo was outstanding on throws of over 30 yards in 2011.

According to Stats Inc, Romo had a 131.25 rating on deep balls, and Elias had Romo at 135.4

Well... he will certainly tear it up on your fantasy football team.

Seems like he does pretty well in real life also.

Yeah, he is a GREAT golfer.

Best two sport star since Deion. It doesn't diminish his football accomplishments. It really is too bad that there isn't a "what if" universe where you could see how some of your QB's would do in Dallas. Personally, I don't think most would finish the year standing.
