Barry Sanders....haven't you heard Lions fans, their OL was a bunch of Jags off the street.

Actually, it's my love for a great ground game that moves the chains, eats clock, and defeats opposing defenses. We had it last year and now we don't. I believe it is a crucial part of our offensive potential for success. How do we get it back? Again, I think Christine Michael will give us our best chance to get back to that.

Not sold on Michael or your assessment......guess we'll see soon.

Hopefully we will....

I'm not sold on Michael either BUT I have seen enough of the Randle & McFadden show to know without a doubt that Michael deserves a shot.

McFadden barely sees the field and when he does, he does pretty dang good. If Michael sees the same touches, I doubt he does any more.

Name all the running backs who had really good years behind bad offensive lines.... I'll wait.

Barry Sanders had some great years behind OLs that certainly weren't considered good. When they discuss all the great RBs in history you never hear discussion about their OLs except with Emmitt. We never heard any talk about Walter Payton's OLs only his defense. They never talked about Gayle Sayers OLs because he created so many plays. They never discuss Jim Browns OLs or the OLs Earl Campbell ran behind because they had to run over and through a lot of defenders to make plays. Great runners make plays out of nothing we've seen it with all the great runners. It's their vision and instincts before they even hit the line of scrimmage that can create a big play. Once they get passed the line of scrimmage it's all on the back to break tackles and avoid defenders. Murray set a Cowboys franchise single game rushing record of 253 yards in 2011 behind a transitioning OL.

Murray rushed for just over 600 yards in a 4 game span that season before an injury cut his season short. Any back can run through a gaping hole but the great backs made their OLs look a lot better than they probably were. Go back and look at some of the runs Eric Dickerson made and AP where their wasn't anywhere to run. Never heard much if anything about Peterson's OLs through the years all the talk is about him and what a great runner he is. The Cowboys are finding out this season that regardless how good your OL is the back matters. The OL hasn't looked very good with the backs the team currently has. Funny how many were giving the OL most of the credit for Murray's great 2014 season but they're receiving some of the blame for not opening up holes for a couple of average backs that need space and a parting of the Red Sea to be effective.

I'll happily agree to disagree. I hope Michael gets that shot tomorrow night!

Barry Sanders for one. His maybe wasn't bad, but it was for most of his career not upper echelon.

Ok, I too hope he gets that shot and does well. I just also wish McFadden would get as much of a shot. Michael is not a home run threat that Darren is.

Being a home run threat doesn't matter if you can't make something out of nothing. You'll never get your opportunity to hit that home run because you're too busy working your way out of 2nd/3rd & longs.

You guys with all of your stupid theories.

When their has been space to run in Randle has chewed it up.

Murray last year consistently had giant holes to run through. This year it's been different.

Murray wouldn't be trying to dance in the backfield on third and short. He'd hit the hole hard and easily get a first down. When there was nothing there Murray would get tough, dirty yards to keep the Cowboys in favorable situations. It took four or five guys at times to bring him down. He was a relentless, tough runner. Was Murray elite? Well he sure as hell was last season. You don't put up 1,800 yards rushing without being a damn good back. The Cowboys bet on the fact that it was more about the offensive line and so far it looks like they were wrong. There is still a long way to go, but so far Dallas sorely misses DeMarco Murray.

I thought that coach's comments were spot on. An oline does not make a rb. His perspective spits clearly in the faces of those that have crowed about how our oline made Demarco. I've always considered that a line of crap. Our "system" made Demarco and he flourished in it.
