There's a tiny problem with that, though. Several reports (and again this is all unofficial but hear me out) have stated that the pregame inspection conducted by the referee is simply pass-fail. He doesn't write the pregame measurements, he simply passes or fails each ball.
Besides, that 12th ball is considered tainted evidence. If Dan Snyder was accusing the Cowboys of tampering with footballs, would you be comfortable with him submitting as evidence a ball that his team possessed for about an hour?
So it sounds like the most likely outcome from the beginning would be no evidence either way that this was done on purpose.
Know what would really exonerate them? Study footballs next year in extreme conditions and see if the PSI loss is consistent with the loss in PSI with the pats footballs. Doubt that happens though...
