I love the smell of zone negativity in the morning. Some fans of lesser teams would be on suicide watch if we hit on another QB without spending 1st day picks. The Rams, Browns, Bears, Dolphins, Jaguars, and Frisco would curse the ground we walk on.

With the success of Green Bay around quarterbacks, and the success around Tony Romo...why not? That merits only developmental levels of faith?

Fun to talk about, but it hardly ever happens.

Thats just reality, but this is the time of the season full of optimism, so who knows. Maybe everyone we picked up will be in the HOF.

Dumb. Team failed. You're a fool if you believe Romo is the main reason we haven't been successful in playoffs.
Guy has been that way with the tennis and golf = football stuff forever. Not going to change.

Just be thankful Dak walks into such a sweet situation with a young oline and RB already in place for the long haul and now an all out effort to build a playoff defense.

Future looks bright

we need a solid back up, not lying to a guy. I want someone who understands hes going to be the back up, happy to be in the NFL and understand what the future holds. Dak is the guy until something bad happens, until than you are the back up. Thats all, lets not go lying to guys, lets not over do it, find a nice simple back up. A solid QB, who understands you are Dak when Dak is down and thats it.

I get the idea of the article but the Cowboys will never find another undrafted player as good as Romo. That boy had a terrific career being a undrafted free agent. Guys please not make this 5 pages debating if you like Romo or not. Lol. I loved the guy and im very proud of having had the chance to watch him play. We won't see that happen for a long long time. The Cowboys stepped in **** when they signed Romo.

Well, I'm actually the reverse, I would rather a guy think he can start than have a backup mentality. Backup mentality guys will always be backups, even when the starter goes down. Starters think they can start when that guy goes down, same that happened with Dak and Romo for that matter. They weren't thinking backup.

Competition is the key on any team at any position, and I don't care who the starters are.....if they get beat out, so be it. That goes for Dak too.

To an extent I agree. However once the choice is made the other guy has to be a team player and not cause problems on the team and accept the role the team has made. Clint Longley would be a good example.

When a guy like Prescott falls to the end of the 4th round and some of shlock QB's we see get drafted in the first round, it's clear the many teams have no idea of what to look for in a QB.

So could another undrafted free agent QB become more than a clip-board holder? While not probable it's not totally unrealistic either.

Understood, it is what it is, and in that case the team chose the other guy so he did get beat out.

I just don't think any position should be given to anyone in football, since it can change so much with age, past injuries, development, and such.

I agree but I also know because of the leadership role that goes with the position once a team makes their choice you must give them a lot of rope. You don't start playing musical QB because it will create more problems than good. Even as bad as Brock Osweiler played for Houston it took 14 games before they pulled him. QB is a bit different than any other position.

When Landry had Staubach and Morton rotating it created problems not only with the 2 players but with the team to the point Lee Roy Jordan was voted by players to go in and talk with Landry and tell him to pick a QB.

Develop young QBs, showcase them in preseason and trade them for a third or better...rinse and repeat like the Patriots.

Landing Prescott could just be dumb luck but I'm sure some teams may believe we have a great team in place to develop young QB's due to Dak's success. I wish we drafted a QB late this season for that reason. The media would've automatically compared any QB we drafted late to Dak and all of that free exposure would have inflated his value...couple that with a decent preseason performance? We could easily flipped a fifth or sixth to a second or third in an offseason or two.

I wasn't talking musical QBs at all, gotta make a decision. But in camp and preseason, every position should be up for grabs. Granted, QB is a bit different, usually only happens cause of injury......which is also why QBs are desperate to not come out the game when hurt.

If the backup clearly shows he is better then great but seldom do established teams start moving QB or creating a situation where the starter is having to fight for his job but again if a new QB comes in and shows he is far better then make the move. If you noticed guys like Romo and most starting QB get few reps during pre season that is always given to the backup until you get to the 3rd pre season where the starter will get the majority of the snaps as he is getting ready for the season

Hundreds of QBs have been drafted over the last 30 years. Only about 10% make it to being a starter for any period of time. For a UDFA to make it let alone become a Franchise QB = well there have been TWO: Warner and Romo.
So the best you can realistically hope for with a UDFA is a decent backup. And even there its a long shot.

Probably. Parcels name comes up quite a bit too.

Hopefully, he's right and we've found a good one.

I think from what I been reading and heard on other podcasts that Rush has exceptional skills reading defenses and handling game management.
His one failing is that he doesn't possess great arm strength for making all the NFL throws. I'm hoping the coaching/training staff can help him with that. Romo, IMVHO, never had a great deep ball and he really had to work on his touch over the years too.

You on Chrome? With flash disabled?

sorry for the slow response, I zonked out and just woke up.

I am using Safari and I usually get asked whether I want to use flash but that didn't happen here.

FYI-responding to this post caused it to download again
