I think from what I been reading and heard on other podcasts that Rush has exceptional skills reading defenses and handling game management.
His one failing is that he doesn't possess great arm strength for making all the NFL throws. I'm hoping the coaching/training staff can help him with that. Romo, IMVHO, never had a great deep ball and he really had to work on his touch over the years too.

Romo always had a good enough arm. That was never really the question. Problem wih Rush is that at this time he does not have the arm to make all the throws. Romo could right off the bat. Now I have not heard that his arm is as weak as Kellen Moore's so we can cling to hope. I feel sorry for Moore; from all accounts he has EVERTHING else needed to be a good QB EXCEPT the arm.

Now I have heard that in some cases there are ways to strengthen an arm to do better; hope Rush is one of those.

sorry for the slow response, I zonked out and just woke up.

I am using Safari and I usually get asked whether I want to use flash but that didn't happen here.

FYI-responding to this post caused it to download again

It's possibly your browser not recognizing the file to play it and so it's trying to download it instead (though no idea why that would be an intermittent issue). If that's the case, you'll probably have a similar experience with other sites containing shockwave files (.swf).

If it's a persistent problem here, move it over to the support forum and somebody more technical than I am will probably help you troubleshoot it there.

I totally agree on your assessment of Moore's arm strength and knowledge of the NFL game. He is destined to be an NFL QB coach me thinks.

Gotta be frustrating for Moore. He sees all the idiots that have nothing but an arm get chance after chance.

Romo's quick release made up for the fact that he does not have a canon.

Never seen Rush play.....

I had the same thing happen on my phone this morning but it hasn't done it again since, on either my phone or desktop.

thx for the heads up. This is the first time its ever happened and only happens in this thread for some reason, so hopefully its just an one time anomaly. It hasn't caused any issues on my computer (that I can see yet anyway)

If Linehan moves on in the next couple of years, Moore may get a better offer to take on a coaching position with the Cowboys. Moore definitely knows
Linehan's playbook.

You are absolutely right...He did have one of the quickest releases in the NFL as a starter. One great thing about Romo is that he was
never satisfied and always was trying to add to his skillset. Not may Romo's in this league now.

Well, I'm actually the reverse, I would rather a guy think he can start than have a backup mentality. Backup mentality guys will always be backups, even when the starter goes down. Starters think they can start when that guy goes down, same that happened with Dak and Romo for that matter. They weren't thinking backup.

Competition is the key on any team at any position, and I don't care who the starters are.....if they get beat out, so be it. That goes for Dak too.

i would agree with this, but mental is the name of the game and if your QB is jittery or your coach is jittery , than to many head aches are coming up. What if one QB has a better arm but no brains? Back and forth it can go. Whos the better QB by what standards? Dak had an incredible rookie season, im not changing him up because the FO or Garrett THINKS they have a better QB or one aspect he mgiht excel at.

This is why i wanted Dak played, it takes a lot to know if you have a franchise QB and we finally found one. Work with him ad get the team rolling .

Tony can walk onto many teams and be claimed a better QB, but Tony has turn over issues. Is that worth changing up a known starter for? Depends on your philosphy, or how long you want to be coach for. You take a guy like Favre vs a guy like River Phillips, both are good at something but Farve lives and dies by the sword. Depends on the coach. My take is, dont fix if its not broken and Dak isnt broken yet.

Fair?

QB is one of the hardest positions in sports to make a decision on. A QB is never usually replaced unless hurt, unlike other positions. They really do have to play hard to get benched, ala Brock. It was obvious Cutler needed to be gone, but again it took too long. Being a mediocre starting QB is a pretty good gig, ask Alex Smith.

I will say its obviously not broken yet, but we still can develop the position, even if we trade them off like the Pats. What I don't like is having some scrub backup at QB, then if the starter gets hurt, your season is over like 2015. The 'backup' QB should be a developing asset, not some has been that is one step out of his NFL grave.

we are both agreeing. Whether its a solid back up or a developing, its a back up who understands hes a back up. Thats ok in this league but some teams never mentally prep the player to understand he ll be the back up.
