General stuff:
- Cowboys may be stuck at 51 with no trading partners if they wanted to trade. Guys you'll get in the second round are not really better than the third round. Goose said one GM in the middle of the second told him "we're stuck here" ... meaning he can't trade up and can't trade down. Goose is always talking in terms of $ bang for the buck in a given round and what he was saying I think was that regarding the player you get for the money, the very top of the second round is at one plateau then it drops. Around the third round you begin getting some $ bang for your buck again.
- Stafford: 60-40 the Lions take him.
- Crabtree may be the best player in draft
- DE Tyson Jackson will be in demand, picked real high. 4-3 and 3-4 teams both want him.
- Boom or bust? OT (left tackle) Andre Smith, Alabama, a guy you fear to take
- Size usually gets drafted early. Not good NT board. 10 big guys could go top 25 picks.
- Too many teams swing for HR in late rounds instead of a solid double ... You shouldn't take small school guys at this point, higher rate of busts. Take big school guys for their consistency and pedigree, better chances of these guys at least making your team
Players rising? None really in first few rounds.
- Glover Quin, CB/S from New Mexico has risen from 6 to 4 pick.
- CB Toler from St. Paul's is rising could wind up in 5th round
Anyone falling?
- Chase Coffman TE Missouri. Foot issue. Hasn't given league a 40 time. Could go from high 2 to late 4 based on injury.
Who will fall to Cowboys at 51? Norm throws out some names:
- Delmas, no
- Robiskie, no
- CB Alphonso Smith of Wake Forest, no
- Any of the 3 good centers? no
- DE Larry English, maybe
- DT/DE Jarron Gilbert, maybe
Who will go where:
- WR Iglesias: late 2nd high 3rd
- WR Massaquoi, late 2 high 3
- WR Pat Turner: 4th could go 3rd
- WR Tate: 4th rd.
- S Mike Hamlin 4th rd ... he's a "player of interest" for the Cowboys
- S McBath: 4th
- ILB Brinkley: high 5th
- QB Bomar, 5th round. Prolly won't drop to bottom of round where Boys are now though.
- QB Daniels: 5th rd.
- QB Branstader: 5th or 6th round
If I can piece together what Goose said this time and last, there are about 6 real good players at the top of the draft. Then a plateau of talent that's about the same level through the first three-four guys or so of the second round. Then another little drop of talent that extends through some or all of the third round.
Thanks for the recap.
