Just like when John Lennon met Paul McCartney. And McCartney just happened to know a guitarist who was a close friend of his, George Harrison. Maybe the creative energy somehow brought them together. Just as the Cowboys and Dak were brought together with that same energy. Dak said as a kid, he would one day be qb for the Cowboys. And look at the chemistry and bond Dak has with Zeke. Best friends off the field. It was just meant to be for the Cowboys, Dak and Zeke.

Exactly right -- the circumstances that all came together was nothing but destiny materializing in the strangest of ways. The energy that also followed when Dak arrived with Zeke from the outset quickly transformed the locker room into one that was brimming with chemistry. They're definitely a dynamic duo now and will be for many years to come. I'm excited and as pleased as can be with our situation now. It's incredible. This team will be giving 100% in the playoffs -- it's surely not difficult to see that coming to pass in the weeks ahead. I believe our guys will be pumped to a degree as yet unseen.

For historical purposes:

I've read a couple of NFL experts over the year talk about Greg Cook, the Bengals QB in 1969, as the greatest rookie QB they ever saw.

His stats:
  • TD-INT: 15-11
  • Yards: 1,895
  • QB rating: 88.3
His 9.4 yards per pass attempt and 17.5 yard per completion are rookie records that still stand.

The kicker -- He tore his rotor cuff in his throwing shoulder in the 3 game of the season, played through it, an eventually his biceps also partially detached. He played through it.

It was his one and only season. They attempted 3 surgeries to fix his arm, however, with 1969s medicine he was done.

Impossible to compare his season to Dak's but I thought some might find it interesting.

Simply amazing to me that we (THE DALLAS COWBOYS) have a rookie QB who has set the records Dak has, who has demonstrated consistent high-level, INT-free play, unlike ever in the history of this franchise, has demonstrated a love for the game, thirst for knowledge and understanding, poise, leadership and most of all, on-field SUCCESS - 13-2, home field advantage through the playoffs with two games to play, and there are fans with agendas who have nothing better to do but nit-pick on perceived deficiencies through the course of this wondrous season. Every single challenge has been faced and overcome by Dak. And its been that way since he stepped on the field. That's the best part, there is nothing that says to me, this is an accident or luck when it comes to his play. The kid is just that talented, with high level character and skills.

I really don't care if he gets MVP or what other records he may set. To me, that's all context and cool and good for him, but not what I'm concerned about. As a Cowboys fan, for me its about the Lombardis. Always. And I cannot even begin to express how happy I am that I feel my team has a QB in place who has guided this team to be in the position to compete for it. For me, based on where my expectations were for this team when Romo went down, which were "season over," this is ALL GRAVY. And it gets no sweeter than that for me. The best Cowboys season that I can remember in a long time, because it doesn't feel like an aberration or crazy luck-filled season. It feels like that the YOUNG players are here, in particular Dak and Zeke - with expectations for success that have infiltrated the entire team because that's what they know and they have the talent to back that up.

I think you can thank his relationship with his late mother who inculcated in him the drive for a lot of what he has accomplished in his short football tenure. Karma seems to like a guy gifted with talent that respected his mom as much as he did.

I hate using the term test when talking about Dak, God knows it seems as if every game he plays is a test. With a playoff game coming in a couple of weeks the true test is here for him and if he can out and continue to produce and help this team win his critics will have little to say.

It matters insofar as it's evidence that they drafted a good player.

Nothing is guaranteed, but Dak is actually reading defenses and going through his progressions like a for-real pro QB, while one-and-done chumps like RG3 basically just played their college offense and ran for 800+ yards a year until they got figured out and/or fell apart physically.

All QB's are tested each week.

However........

More so for Dak.

He's the QB of the Dallas Cowboys......... and they want him to fail.

He's a Fourth round pick, a project at best..................and they want him to fail.

You hate him or you love him.........just like the Dallas Cowboys themselves.

Comes with the job.

I hate to say it but that is true. Romo had his share of haters through out his career as does Dak now. Only way to silence critics is to win it all. Hard to believe but I can remember many Cowboy fans wanting Steve Walsh to be the starter over Troy. Walsh was the winning QB vs the Commanders in the Cowboys only win in the 1-15 season during Troy and Steve Rookie year. Once the Cowboys won the SB with Aikman. Of course you will not find any of those people now after the Cowboys won it all Troy was the man.
