He had a good season, it wasnt a "fabulous" season. Then he threatened to hold out if he didnt get a lucrative long term deal after that season.

Wade and Jones said this guy was a huge piece of the puzzle, and he's been the worst player on the defense since he signed that deal.

His contract is the worst we've ever given a player IMO, he's awful.

4 years removed from that Marco Rivera fiasco. Roy L. Williams' extension. TO's extension the subsequent cap hit....

It's up there, but probably not THE worst...

Debatable.

Signing Flo to an 45 million dollar extension this offseason was epic fail.

I thought it was this offseason. Well either way it was a huge mistake.

No, we are in Season 2 of a 6-year deal.

His 2009 Cap Hit is $3.6 M. Next year it jumps up to $7.6 M. 2011, 2012, and 2013 his Cap Hit is $7.7M.

If we cut him next year the Cap Hit would be $10.4 M, almost $3 M more if he we keep him. In 2011, it's almost a wash, costing us $100,000 more in cap room to cut him.

So if next year is uncapped, the cap hit won't really hurt. If a cap is in place, we won't see any real cap relief until 2012.

might be because he's a pro bowl LT who still plays at a high level, despite what some people think in here

Ya because when he's in the 4th year of his contract and 38 years old he's going to be REALLY good:rolleyes:

Now we're screwed with his god awful cap hit. I'm praying for an upcapped year.

What happen to this guy? He had that fabulous season and got his fat contract. Since then his play suspect at best and sometimes outright horrendous.

You answered your own question.

Hamlin was horribly overrated during the 2007 season. The FS play that had been seen in Dallas since Woodson hurt his back and retired was so awful that Hamlin was going to look good by just being adequate. He's playing to the level that he is: an average player.

You are spot on. Very few recognized him for the mediocre player he was, including the owner and coaches.

There was a board full of fans lauding Ken Hamlin's contract when it was announced.

The fans who wanted him were the ones who drank the kool-aid. Hamlin's best (only???) asset, his ability to line up the secondary, is so overrated and overblown.

It's not hard to see him as that if you actually look at his numbers. Look at his 07 numbers outside of the PD he put up numbers similar to RW and RW was getting run out of time. So you get what you ask for.

Hamlin gets the Dat Dude award... but lets be honest, FLO is the man considering the OLinemen the Boys have had this decade, and may play out that deal!

ppl compare Romo to Hutch n Q lets compare Flo to Torrin Tucker or Javier Collins!

I like Ken Hamlin if he can just sit back in pass defense looking to lay a hit or jump a route.

Everything else I'd rather avoid.

Hamlin is effective in center field when we have a nice lead, but very ordinary the rest of the time.
