The trade was spot on, the points are exact for this type of draft, you must adjust your point chart. We loved Fredrick, he would have been gone at 47 with the run on o-lineman. Callahan has spent time with him, he plays both guard and center, he's smart with one hell of an anchor.

We took the bpa based on OUR needs and the way the draft was going. We are a better football team with Travis Fredrick.

Don't listen to the haters.

If that's the way you want to spin it.....

I was positive yesterday. I was fine with the O-linemen. I was fine with the D-linemen. I even liked Vacarro while everyone else ripped him. But getting a 3rd to move down 13 spots isn't getting the proper value. It just isn't and that is fact. The easiest way to explain that, even if you take the points system away is the the worst teams draft 1st and the best teams draft last. We are neither but drafted with the best teams at the bottom and got a guy that most had in the 3rd, some the 2nd and some in the 4th. The run in the 2nd round will be on WR, S, RB and LB. The 3rd we got needs to pan out. The reality of watching the draft last night and seeing the reactions was we got caught with our pants down. Plain and simple. When lesser known linemen went after the trade down they knew they were screwed. So they reached for need instead of taking talent that was there or trying to again trade back...they might have tried. I just refuse to spin this. I'm not a hater. I've been positive about talent being deep in this draft. I'm not positive when we reach big time for a guy that probably would have been there.

I believe it will get even better today. Three picks on deck.

Maybe Arkin or Leery can make a step up. But I have a feeling Costa will remain at OC and Freddie takes one of the OG positions.

how about schwenke in rd 2 and chris faulk/brennan will in rd 4

and we could have

Smith Livings Schwenke Frederick Faulk/Parnell

that looks pretty good to me

this still leaves us 2 3rd round picks to address DT/FS/RB/WR based on value and of course rds 5-7

i would take that draft

Until we see the other end of this deal its hard to judge. We get some talent with the extra pick and it could be well played. We got Murray in the 3rd, we will find out today.
Besides that Ive seen the film on this guy and i like what I see. Brains too.

since your bashing this pick in every thread just curious who did u want so desperate at 18 Flloyd? or Elam at 31? Other teams just picked players we needed, and nobody wanted us to move up either

I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't take another OL the rest of the draft. It's corners, tight ends and running backs from here on. Maybe a safety.

BTW, our GM told us last night that DL is a position of strength on this team. So we're good there.

I love it, personally.

Problems with salary cap, nobody at 18 we wanted, so trade down to 31, save some $$$, get the top OC in the draft, a guy who will anchor the OL for a decade...start fortifying from the inside out, how it should be done.

I applaud the trade and the pick. Not a sexy one for sure, but a good FOOTBALL pick.

If Frederick can do what Zeitler did last year, then I will be happy with the pick.

You have no idea what your talking about. The trade was spot on based on the this particular draft. Fredrick was arguably the best center in the draft and the run on o-lineman was record setting. We did what we had to do.

We did the right thing and got a hell of a football player in Fredrick.

Loved the pick, but the trade was terrible. I wanted to call the SVU unit because Jerry Jones was sodomized on live TV.

Nope. Trade was fair value based on this draft.

I want to explain something about my post above...you can like the guy but not the pick. Could this guy help out O-line and be a guy who can be around for 10 years...sure. Could be. Could we have picked a D-linemen at 18 and then had the same guy in the 2nd...probably. That's the rub. We trade down 13 spots for a 3rd and take a guy who had anywhere from a 3rd to a 4th round grade on him. Even the 2nd round grades said he needed work. So I'm fine with the position and the guy. I'm not fine with where he was picked and how we got caught looking confused and shell shocked by how the draft went down.

I hope your right.
I will hold my opinion until after the draft is over. Or at least the 3rd round on this one

I'll take it. I wish the Rams didn't nab Ogletree though.

If we draft one more starter on the line today and sign a guy like Clabo or Winston the line will be in pretty good shape for the season, but not set in stone for the future.

Looked like he was going to go in the 2nd and we basically picked him in the 2nd.

For a first round pick at center you'd usually want a sure fire thing (or at least as close to it as you can get). Frederick isn't sure-fire by a long shot, and that worries me with our history of OL picks.

But reach or not, it IS an O-line pick and so I can't complain too much. He should be an upgrade at least. If we can get Clabo in FA, we'll have at least gotten Romo a "little" bit more protection.
