I can refute it if I want, because I saw the guy play almost every week here on TV...and he stunk most weeks and his college career would have to be classified as a disappointment. He was hurt quite a bit and had one of the most pedestrian yds per catch numbers ever this past yr

I'm sorry, but you cant legitimately defend 9.2 yds per catch. I know how he was used just like anybody else does. Bradon Lafell averaged 13.1 yds per catch last yr, Demetrius Byrd 17.7 and Terrance Toliver 24.9...so why's Doucet at 9.2? Craig Davis and Dwayne Bowe both averaged more yds per catch in 2006, 2005 and 2004

David
Easy answer. They used Doucet almost exclusively on crossing routes and wide receiver screens. Laffell and Byrd ran primarily deep routes.

Doucet had YPC of 14.3, 15.0, and 13.1 in his previous 3 seasons, so it's obvious this last year was an anomaly.

so he basically has no run after catch skills...not to mention the fact he cant beat tight man coverage to get open downfield when he does run those routes

He definitely has RAC ability. That's why they used him on those types of routes. YPC is indicative of the length of the throw more than it is the RAC.

People need to stop forming their opinions based on other people's opinions or based on a cobbled together highlight real and start watching games again.

Porter's a classic example. He made some all-Big 10 teams based on an impressive 6 INTs and that's all some voters noticed. People who really follow the Big 10 would probably rank him as only the 7th to 9th best CB prospect in the league. He really struggled at times, playing much slower than his "timed" speed. He picked up some cheap INTs because teams threw at him alot and was beaten by some rather average receivers.

then why don't we let those that have seen more of him than us be the judge?

make sense?
Why? His numbers are atrocious. I don't need to watch a single game of Peyton Manning to look at his numbers and tell he's good.

even the kids that play WR in Hawaii's run and shoot offense averaged more yds per catch than Doucet Theo...and probably 90% of their routes are 5-10 yds at best

I honestly cant find any major WR prospect who has had a season with such a pedestrian yds per catch

but feel free to keep spinning away...the guys a WR Theo, not a RB or FB catching balls out of the backfield

Andre Ware, Ty Detmer, David Klingler, Ryan Leaf, Robbie Bosco

what did the number say about them Theo? Or should I go ahead and list another 15 or 20 guys just like them?

I really don't think you watched Doucet at all this year. Perhaps the television was on and it was tuned into the correct channel, but I don't guess you actually watched how they used him.

What's your point? Is it that great college production doesn't guarantee NFL success?

Well...duh.

I guess Ron Dayne is well on his way to a Hall of Fame career then...

oops

Dave Ball

welcome to the Pro Bowl!

looking strictly at college numbers is the most ridiculous thing that you could do when evaluating prospects

We'll just have to agree to disagree. No problem there.

like I said...saw him alot all 4 yrs he was there...the kid was one of the highest rated WR's out of high school in the past 10 yrs, yet he was nothing but ordinary once he got there

I saw how they used him Theo...he was never impressive

That's fine if you were never impressed. But anyone that watched him closely should know exactly why his YPC was down this season
