Greg Cosell's Film Review: Some recent warning signs with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

Ya, it's all on the wr's/rbs. They can't catch the ball when Wentz throws it to them. Can't run their routes 'cause Wentz is their qb. Wentz 12 ints is on them, not him.
I'm just telling you the rationale his fans have. When he gets some (acceptable) weapons we'll see what they have to say then.

Wentz is 28 in total qbr (out of 30). Eli Manning btw is 26, and he has weapons galore at wr. So sometimes it's not just the weapons, but the qb and finding ways to get them the ball.

When we talk about Prescott’s issues, none of them should be unexpected. He’s still a rookie. The concerns you could see from him on his Mississippi State film – not throwing with a firm base, a tendency to drift when throwing to his left, a locked front leg that negatively impacts velocity and at times causes deeper throws to lose energy on the back end – are showing up with more regularity. He will need an offseason to work on these issues, like all other rookie quarterbacks.

did you come up with that assessment or you read it?

To me, Prescott needs refinement. He can win when all else is optimal.

Teams are now preparing for his mobility and are closing the pocket making him far less effective.

A QB that can run for nine yards at any time is a huge prep challenge. They have closed that gap.

Nothing wrong with that. Question just is how far we can go with other aspects of the team.

In simple words, I think we have seen his best shot.

If they are closing the pocket that's not for free. It means they a leveraging vulnerability in another area. I would counter with delays to Zeke.

I'd love to have a franchise QB I believed in. This guy isn't it. Not by a long shot.

But I apologize for not getting swept up in the nonsense and understand what I'm watching. Dak is along for the ride in an offense schemed to protect him. He's the weak link on an offense that must carry the team if they want to contend for anything.
Would you even be happy if we won a Super Bowl? You don't have to answer. We all know it's NO.

Tell that to our coaching staff which seems to be struggling with that concept at the moment.

yes like the offense carried the other qb's last year ??
last year 11 game losing streak, add Dak and EE and 11 game win streak.
and it isnt just elliot, Dak is the key to all the winning, and was the key in losing too.

The offense runs through Zeke..

Dak hasn't either. That's a ridiculous argument.

SO LIKE I SAID...

If he continues to struggle and it becomes clear we aren't getting anywhere because he is experiencing those rookie struggles and defenses continue to stack the box and daring Dak to beat them downfield and he continues to come up short THEN YOU PUT ROMO IN!!

If under those circumstances some feel like we keep Dak in when we have Romo on the bench, then you have to start wondering why.

Just silly.

I agree, with two caveats 1. Romo is sharp in practice and 2. he apears to be legitimately healthy. I have no desire to see a stiff Romo come out and knock off the rust. For the good of the franchise I truly hope Dak and the offense get going again, but if not and taking into consideration the preceding Id welcome back Romo with open arms. I dont get the agendas here. My only agenda is winning!

One good game from Dak and risen will crawl back into his hole to hibernate with sweet dreams of Wentz. This would be best case scenario lol.

Love this! Thank you.

So he can fail like he did in 2006, 2007, 2009. and 2014

Romo started every game in 2008, 2011, 2012, and 15 games in 2013 and still couldn't get the team to the playoffs

A lot of us know we need counters but Linehan/JG don't agree.
